Fuel Economy and Range
The Corvette can travel with zero emissions on a full charge for 5 miles. The F-Type can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.
An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the Corvette (except Z06/ZR1)’s fuel efficiency. The F-Type doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.
Regenerative brakes improve the Corvette E-Ray’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The F-Type doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.
The Corvette has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The F-Type doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.
Transmission
The Corvette offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The F-Type doesn’t offer an SMG or a conventional manual transmission.
Brakes and Stopping
For better stopping power the Corvette CCB’s front brake rotors are larger than those on the F-Type:

Front Rotors |
15.7 inches |
15 inches |
Rear Rotors |
15.4 inches |
14.8 inches |
The Corvette offers optional heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The F-Type doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.
The Corvette stops much shorter than the F-Type:

Tires and Wheels
For better traction, the Corvette Z06/E-Ray/ZR1’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the F-Type (F:275/30R20 & R:345/25R21 vs. F:265/35R20 & R:305/30R20).
The Corvette Z06/E-Ray/ZR1’s 275/30R20 front and 345/25R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series front and 25 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the F-Type’s 35 series front and 30 series rear tires.
For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Corvette Z06/E-Ray/ZR1 has standard 21-inch rear wheels. The F-Type’s largest wheels are only 20-inches.
The Corvette has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The F-Type doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.
Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires standard on the Corvette can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The F-Type doesn’t offer run-flat tires.
Suspension and Handling
For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Corvette’s wheelbase is 4 inches longer than on the F-Type (107.2 inches vs. 103.2 inches).
For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the Corvette is 3.2 inches wider in the front and .2 inches wider in the rear than the track on the F-Type.
The Corvette Z06 Z07 Coupe handles at 1.16 G’s, while the F-Type Coupe pulls only .96 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.
The Corvette Z06 Z07 Convertible handles at 1.10 G’s, while the F-Type R75 Convertible pulls only .98 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.
The Corvette Z06 Z07 Coupe executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 2.5 seconds quicker than the F-Type R75 Coupe (21.9 seconds @ .99 average G’s vs. 24.4 seconds @ .82 average G’s).
The Corvette Z06 Z07 Convertible executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1.5 seconds quicker than the F-Type R75 Convertible (22.7 seconds @ .93 average G’s vs. 24.2 seconds @ .85 average G’s).
Chassis
The Chevrolet Corvette may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 100 to 350 pounds less than the Jaguar F-Type.
The design of the Chevrolet Corvette amounts to more than styling. The Corvette has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .32 Cd. That is lower than the F-Type (.35 to .36). A more efficient exterior helps the Corvette go faster and keeps the interior quieter. It also helps the Corvette get better fuel mileage.
The Corvette’s standard power retractable hardtop allows a seamless transition from an open car, to a completely sealed coupe. The F-Type doesn’t offer a retractable hardtop.
The Corvette uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The F-Type doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.
Cargo Capacity
The Corvette Convertible has a much larger trunk with its top down than the F-Type Convertible (12.6 vs. 7.3 cubic feet).
Servicing Ease
The Corvette has a standard under hood light to help in making nighttime maintenance checks, adding fluids, etc. The F-Type doesn’t offer an under hood light.
Ergonomics
The Corvette’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The F-Type does not have an oil pressure gauge.
The Corvette offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed, tachometer, turn signal and navigation instruction readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The F-Type doesn’t offer a heads-up display.
On a hot day the Corvette has a standard remote opening feature, to lower the top from outside. The F-Type doesn’t offer a remote top, so the driver will have to enter the car, turn the ignition on and lower the top.
To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the Corvette has standard extendable sun visors. The F-Type doesn’t offer extendable visors.
The Corvette’s sun-visors swivel front-to-side to block glare from the side windows. The F-Type’s visors are fixed into the windshield header.
With standard voice command, the Corvette offers the driver hands free control of the radio and the navigation computer by simply speaking. The F-Type doesn’t offer a voice control system.
To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Chevrolet Corvette offers an optional wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the front center console. The F-Type doesn’t offer wireless personal charging.
Economic Advantages
Insurance will cost less for the Corvette owner. The Complete Car Cost Guide estimates that insurance for the Corvette will cost $4540 to $10300 less than the F-Type over a five-year period.
The Corvette will cost the buyer less in the long run because of its superior resale value. The IntelliChoice estimates that the Corvette will retain 67.13% to 70.13% of its original price after five years, while the F-Type only retains 49.86% to 51.21%.
IntelliChoice estimates that five-year ownership costs (depreciation, financing, insurance, fuel, fees, repairs and maintenance) for the Chevrolet Corvette will be $11398 to $21739 less than for the Jaguar F-Type.
