Compare the2025 Cadillac Escalade IQVS 2024 Porsche Taycan

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the Escalade IQ are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The Taycan doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

The Escalade IQ has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The Taycan doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The Escalade IQ has standard Reverse Automatic Braking that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The Taycan doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, Full-Time Four-Wheel Drive is standard on the Escalade IQ. But it costs extra on the Taycan.

The Escalade IQ has a standard blind spot warning system that uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them and moves the vehicle back into its lane. A system to reveal vehicles in the Taycan’s blind spot costs extra.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the Escalade IQ’s standard Rear Cross Traffic Alert uses sensors in the rear to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side and Rear Cross Traffic Braking automatically engages the brakes to help avoid a collision. The Taycan doesn’t offer a rear cross-path warning system.

The Escalade IQ’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Taycan doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the Escalade IQ and the Taycan have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras and available night vision systems.

Cadillac’s powertrain warranty covers the Escalade IQ 2 years and 20,000 miles longer than Porsche covers the Taycan. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 6 years or 70,000 miles. Coverage on the Taycan ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

There are almost 3 times as many Cadillac dealers as there are Porsche dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Escalade IQ’s warranty.

The Escalade IQ’s electric motors produces 348 more horsepower (750 vs. 402) and 531 lbs.-ft. more torque (785 vs. 254) than the Taycan’s standard electric motor. The Escalade IQ’s electric motors produces 281 more horsepower (750 vs. 469) and 522 lbs.-ft. more torque (785 vs. 263) than the Taycan Performance Plus’ optional electric motor. The Escalade IQ’s electric motors produces 281 more horsepower (750 vs. 469) and 417 lbs.-ft. more torque (785 vs. 368) than the Taycan Cross Turismo’s standard electric motors. The Escalade IQ’s electric motors produces 11 lbs.-ft. more torque (785 vs. 774) than the Taycan Turbo S’ standard electric motors.

For better traction, the Escalade IQ has larger tires than the Taycan (275/50R24 vs. 225/55R19). The Escalade IQ’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Taycan (275/50R24 vs. 265/35R21).

The Escalade IQ’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Taycan’s standard 55 series front tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Escalade IQ has standard 24-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the Taycan. The Taycan’s largest wheels are only 21-inches.

The Cadillac Escalade IQ’s wheels have 6 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The Porsche Taycan only has 5 wheel lugs per wheel.

The Escalade IQ has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The Taycan doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

The front and rear suspension of the Escalade IQ uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the Taycan, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The Escalade IQ has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Escalade IQ’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The Taycan doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Escalade IQ’s wheelbase is 22 inches longer than on the Taycan (136.2 inches vs. 114.2 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Escalade IQ is 1.6 inches wider in the front and 2.6 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the Taycan.

For excellent aerodynamics, the Escalade IQ has standard flush composite headlights. The Taycan has recessed headlights that spoil its aerodynamic shape and create extra drag.

The Escalade IQ uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Taycan doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The Escalade IQ has standard seating for 7 passengers; the Taycan can only carry up to 5.

The Escalade IQ has 69.9 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Taycan Cross Turismo (161.9 vs. 92).

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the Escalade IQ’s middle row seats recline. The Taycan’s rear seats don’t recline.

The Escalade IQ’s cargo area provides more volume than the Taycan Cross Turismo.

Pressing a switch automatically lowers the Escalade IQ’s second and third row seats, to make changing between passengers and cargo easier. The Taycan doesn’t offer automatic folding second row seats.

Standard Trailer Sway Control on the Escalade IQ uses the StabiliTrak® sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The Taycan doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

If the windows are left open on the Escalade IQ the driver can close them all from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the Taycan can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The Escalade IQ’s cruise control switch is lit from behind, making it plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The Taycan’s cruise control switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Escalade IQ has a standard rear wiper. The Taycan doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the Escalade IQ has standard extendable sun visors. The Taycan doesn’t offer extendable visors.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the Escalade IQ to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The Taycan doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

The Escalade IQ has standard front air conditioned seats and offers them optionally in the second row. This keeps the passengers comfortable and takes the sting out of hot seats in summer. The Taycan doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats in the rear.

The Escalade IQ has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the Taycan.

Both the Escalade IQ and the Taycan offer optional massaging front seats. The Escalade IQ also offers optional massaging second row seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging rear seats aren’t available in the Taycan.

The Escalade IQ has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Taycan doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The Cadillac Escalade outsold the Porsche Taycan by almost six to one during 2023.
