Both the Escalade IQ and Ariya have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The Escalade IQ has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The Ariya’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, Full-Time Four-Wheel Drive is standard on the Escalade IQ. But it costs extra on the Ariya.

A passive infrared night vision system optional on the Escalade IQ helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The Ariya doesn’t offer a night vision system.

Both the Escalade IQ and Ariya have Rear Cross Traffic Alert, but the Escalade IQ has Rear Cross Traffic Braking (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The Ariya’s Rear Cross Traffic Alert doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the Escalade IQ and the Ariya have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, front seat center airbag, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

Warranty

The Escalade IQ comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck. The Ariya’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 14,000 miles sooner.

Cadillac’s powertrain warranty covers the Escalade IQ 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Nissan covers the Ariya. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 6 years or 70,000 miles. Coverage on the Ariya ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

The Escalade IQ’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the Ariya’s (6 vs. 5 years).

Reliability

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Cadillac vehicles are more reliable than Nissan With 3 fewer problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, J.D. Power ranks Cadillac higher than Nissan.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2024 Auto Issue reports that Cadillac vehicles are more reliable than Nissan vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Cadillac 1 place higher in reliability than Nissan.

Engine

The Escalade IQ’s electric motors produces 536 more horsepower (750 vs. 214) and 564 lbs.-ft. more torque (785 vs. 221) than the Ariya’s standard electric motor. The Escalade IQ’s electric motors produces 512 more horsepower (750 vs. 238) and 564 lbs.-ft. more torque (785 vs. 221) than the Ariya +’s standard electric motor. The Escalade IQ’s electric motors produces 415 more horsepower (750 vs. 335) and 372 lbs.-ft. more torque (785 vs. 413) than the Ariya’s optional electric motors. The Escalade IQ’s electric motors produces 361 more horsepower (750 vs. 389) and 343 lbs.-ft. more torque (785 vs. 442) than the Ariya Engage+/Evolve+/Platinum+’s standard electric motors.

For better stopping power the Escalade IQ’s standard brake rotors are larger than those on the Ariya:

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Escalade IQ has larger tires than the Ariya (275/50R24 vs. 235/55R19). The Escalade IQ’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Ariya (275/50R24 vs. 245/45R20).

The Escalade IQ’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Ariya’s standard 55 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Escalade IQ has standard 24-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the Ariya. The Ariya’s largest wheels are only 20-inches.

The Cadillac Escalade IQ’s wheels have 6 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The Nissan Ariya only has 5 wheel lugs per wheel.

Suspension and Handling

The front and rear suspension of the Escalade IQ uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the Ariya, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The Escalade IQ has a standard driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads or off-road. The Ariya’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

The Escalade IQ has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Escalade IQ’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The Ariya doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Escalade IQ’s wheelbase is 26.9 inches longer than on the Ariya (136.2 inches vs. 109.3 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Escalade IQ is 4.4 inches wider in the front and 4.3 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the Ariya.

For greater off-road capability the Escalade IQ has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Ariya (6.9 vs. 6.7 inches), allowing the Escalade IQ to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

Chassis

The front grille of the Escalade IQ uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The Ariya doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

Passenger Space

The Escalade IQ has standard seating for 7 passengers; the Ariya can only carry 5.

The Escalade IQ has 60.7 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Ariya (161.9 vs. 101.2).

The Escalade IQ has 3.9 inches more front headroom, 2.9 inches more front legroom, 5.1 inches more front hip room, 8.3 inches more front shoulder room, 1.6 inches more rear headroom, 4.3 inches more rear legroom, 7.8 inches more rear hip room and 7.7 inches more rear shoulder room than the Ariya.

Cargo Capacity

The Escalade IQ’s cargo area provides more volume than the Ariya.

Pressing a switch automatically lowers the Escalade IQ’s second and third row seats, to make changing between passengers and cargo easier. The Ariya doesn’t offer automatic folding second row seats.

Towing

The Escalade IQ’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Ariya’s (8000 vs. 0 pounds).

Standard Trailer Sway Control on the Escalade IQ uses the StabiliTrak® sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The Ariya doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

Servicing Ease

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Cadillac service is better than Nissan. J.D. Power ranks Cadillac fifth in service department satisfaction. With a 23% lower rating, Nissan is ranked 16th.

Ergonomics

The Escalade IQ has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The Ariya doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

If the windows are left open on the Escalade IQ the driver can close them all from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the Ariya can only close the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The Escalade IQ’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Ariya’s standard intermittent wipers change speed with vehicle speed, but can’t turn on and off or change speed based on changing rainfall.

To help drivers avoid possible obstacles, the Escalade IQ has standard cornering lights to illuminate around corners when the turn signals are activated. The Ariya doesn’t offer cornering lights. The Escalade IQ also has standard adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the Escalade IQ to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The Ariya doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

The Escalade IQ’s standard rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The Ariya offers an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

The Escalade IQ has standard front air conditioned seats and offers them optionally in the second row. This keeps the passengers comfortable and takes the sting out of hot seats in summer. The Ariya doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats in the rear.

The Escalade IQ has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel is only available on the Ariya Engage/Evolve+/Empower+/Platinum+.

The Escalade IQ offers optional massaging front and second row seats, which keep the driver and middle row passengers. Massaging seats aren’t available in the Ariya.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Cadillac Escalade IQ has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console for two separate devices. Only the Ariya Evolve+/Empower+/Platinum+ offers wireless charging. The Escalade IQ also offers Qi charging for two devices in the second row seat. The Ariya doesn’t offer wireless charging in its rear seat.

The Escalade IQ has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Ariya doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The Escalade IQ’s Adaptive Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Auto Parking will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The Ariya Empower+/Platinum+’s automatic parking system does not offer parking by remote control.

Recommendations

The Cadillac Escalade outsold the Nissan Ariya by over three to one during 2023.
