For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Cadillac CT5-V are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the CT5-V are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The CT5-V (except Manual) has standard Reverse Automatic Braking that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.

The CT5-V offers all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.

The CT5-V has a standard HD Surround Vision to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The Giulia Quadrifoglio only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

Both the CT5-V and Giulia Quadrifoglio have rear cross-traffic warning, but the CT5-V (except Manual) has Rear Cross Traffic Braking (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The Giulia Quadrifoglio’s Rear Cross-Path Detection doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the CT5-V and the Giulia Quadrifoglio have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available driver alert monitors.

Cadillac’s powertrain warranty covers the CT5-V 2 years and 20,000 miles longer than Alfa Romeo covers the Giulia Quadrifoglio. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 6 years or 70,000 miles. Coverage on the Giulia Quadrifoglio ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

The CT5-V’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the Giulia Quadrifoglio’s (6 vs. 5 years).

There are almost 5 times as many Cadillac dealers as there are Alfa Romeo dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the CT5-V’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Cadillac vehicles are better in initial quality than Alfa Romeo vehicles. With 12 fewer problems per 100 vehicles, JD Power ranks Cadillac higher than Alfa Romeo.

The CT5-V Blackwing’s standard 6.2 supercharged V8 produces 163 more horsepower (668 vs. 505) and 216 lbs.-ft. more torque (659 vs. 443) than the Giulia Quadrifoglio’s 2.9 turbo V6.

As tested in Car and Driver the CT5-V Blackwing 6.2 supercharged V8 is faster than the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio (automatics tested):

The CT5-V has 2.2 gallons more fuel capacity than the Giulia Quadrifoglio (17.5 vs. 15.3 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

The CT5-V has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

The CT5-V offers a manual transmission for better acceleration, control and sportiness. The Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer a manual transmission.

A 10-speed automatic is standard on the Cadillac CT5-V, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only an eight-speed automatic is available for the Giulia Quadrifoglio.

The CT5-V’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer launch control.

The CT5-V Blackwing offers optional heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

For better traction, the CT5-V Blackwing’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Giulia Quadrifoglio (F:275/35R19 & R:305/30R19 vs. F:245/35R19 & R:285/30R19).

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the CT5-V V6 offers optional 20-inch wheels. The Giulia Quadrifoglio’s largest wheels are only 19-inches.

The CT5-V has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires available on the CT5-V can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the CT5-V’s wheelbase is 5 inches longer than on the Giulia Quadrifoglio (116 inches vs. 111 inches).

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the CT5-V is 1.8 inches wider in the front than the track on the Giulia Quadrifoglio.

The CT5-V Blackwing handles at 1.02 G’s, while the Giulia Quadrifoglio pulls only .96 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

As tested by Car and Driver, the interior of the CT5-V is quieter than the Giulia Quadrifoglio:

The CT5-V has 3.6 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Giulia Quadrifoglio (99 vs. 95.4).

The CT5-V has .4 inches more front headroom, .6 inches more front shoulder room, 2.8 inches more rear legroom and 2.1 inches more rear shoulder room than the Giulia Quadrifoglio.

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the CT5-V’s available trunk can be opened just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its trunk, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Cadillac service is better than Alfa Romeo. J.D. Power ranks Cadillac fifth in service department satisfaction. With a 16% lower rating, Alfa Romeo is ranked 11th.

The CT5-V’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The Giulia Quadrifoglio does not have an oil pressure gauge.

The CT5-V offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed, tachometer, navigation instruction, infotainment and driver assistance information readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

On a hot day the CT5-V’s driver can lower all the windows from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the Giulia Quadrifoglio can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The CT5-V’s standard Keyless Access allow you to unlock the doors from any outside door handle, open the trunk, and start the engine, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Keyless-Enter-n-Go standard on the Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer a sensor on the rear doors, so you’ll have to reach a front handle to unlock the rear door.

When the CT5-V is put in reverse, both rearview mirrors tilt from their original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirrors into their original positions. The Giulia Quadrifoglio’s mirrors don’t automatically adjust for backing.

Optional air-conditioned seats in the CT5-V keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in Summer. The Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

The CT5-V has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the car heater warms up. A heated steering wheel isn’t available on the Giulia Quadrifoglio w/Sparco Racing Seats.

The CT5-V has standard massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the Giulia Quadrifoglio.

The CT5-V (except Manual)’s Enhanced Automatic Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting and stopping automatically, with the driver only responsible for switching from reverse to drive. The Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer an automated parking system.

Insurance will cost less for the CT5-V owner. The Complete Car Cost Guide estimates that insurance for the CT5-V will cost $1290 to $6935 less than the Giulia Quadrifoglio over a five-year period.

The CT5-V Blackwing was chosen as a Car and Driver’s “Top Ten” for 2024 and 2 more times in the last 3 years. The Giulia Quadrifoglio hasn’t been picked since 2018, and the Giulia Quadrifoglio has only been chosen once.

The Cadillac CT5 outsold the Alfa Romeo Giulia by over five to one during 2023.
