The ProMaster EV has standard driver and passenger side airbags combined with three-point seat belts, a combination which is 29% more effective in preventing injury and death than seatbelts alone. The Rivian Delivery doesn’t offer a passenger side airbag, only driver’s.

For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Ram ProMaster EV are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Rivian Delivery doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

The ProMaster EV has standard Multi-Collision Braking, which automatically apply the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Rivian Delivery doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The ProMaster EV has standard ParkSense with Stop that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The Rivian Delivery doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.

Both the ProMaster EV and the Rivian Delivery have standard driver’s frontal airbag, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front wheel drive, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, driver alert monitors, available blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Ram vehicles are better in initial quality than Rivian vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Ram first in initial quality, above the industry average. With 117 more problems per 100 vehicles, Rivian is ranked 32nd, below the industry average.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2024 Auto Issue reports that Ram vehicles are more reliable than Rivian vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Ram 13 places higher in reliability than Rivian.

The ProMaster EV can travel longer on a full charge than the Rivian Delivery on a full charge:

The front suspension of the ProMaster EV uses coil springs for better ride, handling and control than the Rivian Delivery, which uses transverse leafs springs in front. Coil springs compress more progressively and offer more suspension travel for a smoother ride with less bottoming out.

The ProMaster EV’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The Rivian Delivery doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the ProMaster EV’s wheelbase is 1.5 inches longer than on the Rivian Delivery 500 (159 inches vs. 157.5 inches).

For better maneuverability, the ProMaster EV’s turning circle is .1 feet tighter than the Rivian Delivery 500’s (46.8 feet vs. 46.9 feet). The ProMaster EV’s turning circle is 7.1 feet tighter than the Rivian Delivery 700’s (46.8 feet vs. 53.9 feet).

The Ram ProMaster EV may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 1050 to 1400 pounds less than the Rivian Delivery.

The ProMaster EV is 1 foot shorter than the Rivian Delivery 500, making the ProMaster EV easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The ProMaster EV is 12.6 inches shorter in height than the Rivian Delivery, making the ProMaster EV much easier to wash and garage and drive (lower center of gravity).

The ProMaster EV offers optional seating for 3 passengers; the Rivian Delivery can only carry 2.

To allow full utilization of available cargo room, the ProMaster EV’s cargo door uses door-type hinges that don’t intrude into the cargo area. Its intrusive roll-up hinge reduces the Rivian Delivery’s useful cargo area space.

The ProMaster EV has a 6410 lbs. towing capacity. The Rivian Delivery has no towing capacity.

Standard Trailer Sway Control on the ProMaster EV uses the Electronic Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The Rivian Delivery doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

The ProMaster EV has a much higher standard payload capacity than the Rivian Delivery (3020 vs. 2513 lbs.).

Standard smartphone integration for the ProMaster EV allows the driver and passengers access to select programs on their smartphones so they can stay connected without taking their eyes off the road or their hands from the wheel. The Rivian Delivery doesn’t offer factory integrated smartphone program access.
