J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Ram vehicles are better in initial quality than Ford vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Ram first in initial quality, above the industry average. With 30 more problems per 100 vehicles, Ford is ranked 9th.

Power ranks Ram higher than Ford.

The ProMaster EV has vehicle speed sensitive variable-assist power steering, for low-effort parking, better control at highway speeds and during hard cornering, and a better feel of the road. The E-Transit doesn’t offer variable-assist power steering.

The ProMaster EV has a 6410 lbs. towing capacity. The E-Transit has no towing capacity.

Standard Trailer Sway Control on the ProMaster EV uses the Electronic Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The E-Transit doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

The ProMaster EV’s front power windows lower with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The E-Transit’s passenger windows don’t open automatically.

The ProMaster EV’s standard Keyless Enter ‘n Go allow you to unlock the doors from any outside door handle, unlock the cargo door, and start the van, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Intelligent Access standard on the E-Transit doesn’t offer a sensor on the rear doors, so you’ll have to reach a front handle to unlock the rear door.

The ProMaster EV’s LED headlights produce a whiter, brighter light (up to 3x) using five times less power than the E-Transit’s standard halogen headlights. LED lights also light instantly and last over twenty times longer than halogen. The ProMaster EV’s LED headlights produce a white, bright light using less electricity than the E-Transit’s optional xenon high intensity discharge (HID) headlights. HID headlights can be slow to reach full brightness or power cycle, causing issues when flashing them to signal other vehicles; LED headlights light instantly. LED lights also last about three to four times as long.

To help drivers avoid possible obstacles, the ProMaster EV has standard cornering lights to illuminate around corners when the turn signals are activated. The E-Transit doesn’t offer cornering lights.

The ProMaster EV’s standard outside mirrors include heating elements to clear off the mirrors for better visibility. Ford charges extra for heated mirrors on the E-Transit.

The ProMaster EV’s power mirror controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The E-Transit’s power mirror controls are on the dash where they are possibly hidden by the steering wheel and are awkward to manipulate.

The ProMaster EV has standard heated front seats, which keep the driver and front passenger extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated seats aren’t available in the E-Transit.

On extremely cold winter days, the ProMaster EV’s standard heated steering wheel provides comfort, allowing the driver to steer safely and comfortably before the vehicle heater warms up. The E-Transit doesn’t offer a heated steering wheel.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Ram ProMaster EV offers an optional wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the front center console. The E-Transit doesn’t offer wireless personal charging.
