Compare the2025 Genesis Electrified GV70VS 2024 Kia EV6

For enhanced safety, the front and rear seat shoulder belts of the Genesis Electrified GV70 have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers. The Kia EV6 doesn’t offer pretensioners for its rear seat belts.

The Electrified GV70’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The EV6 doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

The Electrified GV70 has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The EV6 doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

Using vehicle speed sensors and seat sensors, smart airbags in the Electrified GV70 deploy with different levels of force or don’t deploy at all to help better protect passengers of all sizes in different collisions. The Electrified GV70’s side airbags will shut off if a child is leaning against the door. The EV6’s side airbags don’t have smart features and will always deploy full force.

The Electrified GV70 has standard Anti-whiplash Front Head Restraints, which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the Anti-whiplash Front Head Restraints system moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The EV6 doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Electrified GV70. But it costs extra on the EV6.

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the Electrified GV70’s standard Downhill Brake Control allow you to creep down safely. The EV6 doesn’t offer Downhill Brake Control.

Both the Electrified GV70 and the EV6 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

The Genesis Electrified GV70 (built after April 2024) has achieved the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) highest rating of “Top Safety Pick Plus” for the 2024 model year. This distinction is based on its exceptional performance in IIHS’ rigorous battery of safety tests. Specifically, it earned a “Good” rating in the latest, more stringent moderate overlap front crash test, a “Good” result in the updated side impact test, and an “Acceptable” score in the revised pedestrian crash prevention test. The EV6 has not yet been fully evaluated by the IIHS for 2024.

The Electrified GV70’s corrosion warranty is 2 years and unlimited miles longer than the EV6’s (7/unlimited vs. 5/100,000).

Genesis pays for scheduled maintenance on the Electrified GV70 for 3 years and 36,000 miles. Genesis will pay for tire rotations, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Kia doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the EV6.

The Electrified GV70’s electric motors produces 262 more horsepower (429 vs. 167) and 258 lbs.-ft. more torque (516 vs. 258) than the EV6 Light Short Range’s standard electric motor. The Electrified GV70’s electric motors produces 204 more horsepower (429 vs. 225) and 258 lbs.-ft. more torque (516 vs. 258) than the EV6 Long Range’s standard electric motor. The Electrified GV70’s electric motors produces 109 more horsepower (429 vs. 320) and 70 lbs.-ft. more torque (516 vs. 446) than the EV6 Long Range’s optional electric motors.

As tested in Consumer Reports the Genesis Electrified GV70 is faster than the EV6 Long Range electric motors:

On the EPA test cycle the Electrified GV70 gets better mileage than the EV6 GT (98 city/83 hwy vs. 88 city/77 hwy MPGe).

The Electrified GV70 can travel longer on a full charge than the EV6 on a full charge:

The Electrified GV70’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The EV6 doesn’t offer launch control.

For better stopping power the Electrified GV70’s standard brake rotors are larger than those on the EV6:

The Electrified GV70’s standard front and rear disc brakes are vented to help dissipate heat for shorter stops with less fading. The rear discs standard on the EV6 are solid, not vented.

For better traction, the Electrified GV70 has larger tires than the EV6 (265/45R20 vs. 235/55R19). The Electrified GV70 AWD’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the EV6 (265/45R20 vs. 255/45R20).

The Electrified GV70’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the EV6’s standard 55 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Electrified GV70 has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the EV6.

The Electrified GV70’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (50% to 50%) than the EV6’s (48.3% to 51.7%). This gives the Electrified GV70 more stable handling and braking.

For better maneuverability, the Electrified GV70’s turning circle is .4 feet tighter than the EV6’s (37.8 feet vs. 38.2 feet). The Electrified GV70’s turning circle is 1.4 feet tighter than the EV6 GT’s (37.8 feet vs. 39.2 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Electrified GV70 has a greater minimum ground clearance than the EV6 (6.9 vs. 6.1 inches), allowing the Electrified GV70 to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The Electrified GV70 Prestige uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The EV6 doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The Electrified GV70 has 1.2 inches more front hip room, 1.3 inches more front shoulder room, .3 inches more rear headroom, .3 inches more rear hip room and 1.3 inches more rear shoulder room than the EV6.

The Electrified GV70 has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the EV6 with its rear seat up (28.7 vs. 24.4 cubic feet). The Electrified GV70 has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the EV6 with its rear seat folded (56.5 vs. 50.2 cubic feet).

A standard locking glovebox (which can’t be accessed with the valet key) keeps your small valuables safer in the Electrified GV70. The EV6 doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.

The Electrified GV70’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the EV6’s (3500 vs. 0 pounds).

The Electrified GV70’s front and rear power windows all open or close fully with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside the car. The EV6’s rear power window switches have to be held the entire time to open or close them fully.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Electrified GV70 has a standard rear wiper. The EV6 doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the Electrified GV70 to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The EV6 doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

The Electrified GV70’s standard rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The EV6 has an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

The Electrified GV70 has standard massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the EV6.

The Genesis Electrified GV70 has a standard Homelink wireless remote control system for garage door operation and device management, conveniently located on the rear view mirror. Homelink® eliminates the need for separate garage door openers and associated risks of losing, breaking, or having dead batteries. Kia charges extra for Homelink® on the EV6.

Consumer Reports® recommends both the Genesis Electrified GV70 and the Kia EV6, based on reliability, safety and performance.

Motor Trend selected the Electrified GV70 as their 2022 Sport Utility of the Year. The EV6 has never been chosen.

The Genesis GV70 outsold the Kia EV6 by 38% during 2023.
