The Electrified GV70’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The I-Pace doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Genesis Electrified GV70 are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Jaguar I-Pace doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the Electrified GV70 are reminded to check the back seat when a sensor determines the back seat is occupied. The I-Pace doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

The Genesis Electrified GV70 has a standard driver’s side knee airbag mounted low on the dashboard. The knee airbag helps prevent the driver from sliding under the seatbelts or the main frontal airbag; this keeps the driver better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. A knee airbag also helps keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The I-Pace doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The Electrified GV70 has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The I-Pace doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

Using vehicle speed sensors and seat sensors, smart airbags in the Electrified GV70 deploy with different levels of force or don’t deploy at all to help better protect passengers of all sizes in different collisions. The Electrified GV70’s side airbags will shut off if a child is leaning against the door. The I-Pace’s side airbags don’t have smart features and will always deploy full force.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The Electrified GV70 has a standard Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist Rear that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The I-Pace doesn’t offer automatic braking for stationary objects directly to the rear.

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the Electrified GV70’s standard Downhill Brake Control allow you to creep down safely. The I-Pace doesn’t offer Downhill Brake Control.

The Electrified GV70 has a standard Surround View Monitor to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The I-Pace only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

Both the Electrified GV70 and the I-Pace have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

The Genesis Electrified GV70 (built after April 2024) has achieved the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) highest rating of “Top Safety Pick Plus” for the 2024 model year. This distinction is based on its exceptional performance in IIHS’ rigorous battery of safety tests. Specifically, it earned a “Good” rating in the latest, more stringent moderate overlap front crash test, a “Good” result in the updated side impact test, and an “Acceptable” score in the revised pedestrian crash prevention test. The I-Pace has not yet been evaluated by the IIHS for 2024.

Genesis’ powertrain warranty covers the Electrified GV70 5 years and 40,000 miles longer than Jaguar covers the I-Pace. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the I-Pace ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

The Electrified GV70’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the I-Pace’s (7 vs. 6 years).

There are over 65 percent more Genesis dealers than there are Jaguar dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Electrified GV70’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Genesis vehicles are better in initial quality than Jaguar vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Genesis above average in initial quality. With 4 more problems per 100 vehicles, Jaguar is rated lower.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Electrified GV70 has a standard rear wiper. The I-Pace doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the Electrified GV70 to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The I-Pace doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

The Electrified GV70 has standard massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the I-Pace.

The Electrified GV70 has a 115-volt a/c outlet in the cargo area, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The I-Pace doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The Electrified GV70’s Smart Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Smart Parking Assist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The I-Pace’s automatic parking system requires operating the brakes and transmission to safely park and it doesn’t offer remote control parking.
