The GV80 Coupe’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The NX doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

Both the GV80 Coupe and NX have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The GV80 Coupe has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The NX’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

The GV80 Coupe has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The NX doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

The GV80 Coupe has a standard Multi-Collision Brake, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The NX doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the GV80 Coupe. But it costs extra on the NX.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the GV80 Coupe has standard Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist with automatic braking, systems which detect vehicles approaching from the sides and can automatically apply the brakes to prevent a collision. Parking Support Brake costs extra on the NX.

Both the GV80 Coupe and the NX have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

Warranty

The GV80 Coupe comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The NX’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Genesis’ powertrain warranty covers the GV80 Coupe 4 years and 30,000 miles longer than Lexus covers the NX. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the NX ends after only 6 years or 70,000 miles.

The GV80 Coupe’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the NX’s (7 vs. 6 years).

Genesis pays for scheduled maintenance on the GV80 Coupe for 2 years and 26000 miles longer than Lexus pays for maintenance for the NX (3/36,000 vs. 1/10,000).

Fuel Economy and Range

Both the GV80 Coupe and the NX have a standard automatic start/stop engine feature to stop unnecessary fuel waste and pollution at stoplights and heavy traffic. All GV80 Coupes have a standard disable switch for the system, so a driver can keep the engine from shutting off when the vehicle stops temporarily. The NX 350h/450h+ doesn’t offer a way to disable start/stop.

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Genesis GV80 Coupe uses regular unleaded gasoline (premium recommended for maximum performance). The NX 350 requires premium, which can cost on average about 82.8 cents more per gallon.

The GV80 Coupe has 6.6 gallons more fuel capacity than the NX (21.1 vs. 14.5 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the GV80 Coupe’s brake rotors are larger than those on the NX:

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the GV80 Coupe has larger tires than the NX (265/50R20 vs. 235/60R18).

The GV80 Coupe’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the NX’s standard 60 series tires. The GV80 Coupe’s optional tires have a lower 40 series profile than the NX’s optional 50 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the GV80 Coupe has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the NX. The GV80 Coupe’s optional 22-inch wheels are larger than the 20-inch wheels optional on the NX.

Suspension and Handling

The GV80 Coupe’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The NX doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the GV80 Coupe’s wheelbase is 10.4 inches longer than on the NX (116.3 inches vs. 105.9 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the GV80 Coupe is 2.7 inches wider in the front and 2.5 inches wider in the rear than on the NX.

For greater off-road capability the GV80 Coupe has a greater minimum ground clearance than the NX (8.1 vs. 7.7 inches), allowing the GV80 Coupe to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

Chassis

The front grille of the GV80 Coupe uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The NX doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The GV80 Coupe uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The NX doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

Passenger Space

The GV80 Coupe has 1.9 inches more front headroom, .6 inches more front legroom, .4 inches more front hip room, 4.3 inches more front shoulder room, 2.6 inches more rear legroom, 3.7 inches more rear hip room and 3.8 inches more rear shoulder room than the NX.

Cargo Capacity

The GV80 Coupe has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the NX with its rear seat up (29.3 vs. 22.7 cubic feet). The GV80 Coupe has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the NX with its rear seat folded (61.1 vs. 46.9 cubic feet).

Towing

The GV80 Coupe’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the NX’s (6000 vs. 0 pounds).

Servicing Ease

The engine in the GV80 Coupe is mounted longitudinally (North-South), instead of sideways, as in the NX. This makes it easier to service and maintain, because the accessory belts are in front.

Ergonomics

The GV80 Coupe’s standard easy entry system raises the steering wheel and glides the driver’s seat back, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. An easy entry system costs extra on the NX.

The power windows standard on both the GV80 Coupe and the NX have locks to prevent small children from operating them. When the lock on the GV80 Coupe is engaged the driver can still operate all of the windows, for instance to close one opened by a child. The NX prevents the driver from operating the other windows just as it does the other passengers.

The GV80 Coupe’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The NX’s standard manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the GV80 Coupe to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The NX doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

Standard air conditioned seats in the front and rear seats keep the GV80 Coupe’s passengers comfortable and take the sting out of hot leather in summer. The NX doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats in the rear.

The GV80 Coupe has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the NX.

The GV80 Coupe has standard massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the NX.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Genesis GV80 has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the NX.

The GV80 Coupe has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The NX doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The GV80 Coupe’s Smart Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Smart Parking Assist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The NX 350h/450h+’s automatic parking system does not offer parking by remote control.
