For enhanced safety, the front and rear seat shoulder belts of the Genesis GV80 Coupe have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers. The BMW X6 doesn’t offer pretensioners for its rear seat belts.

For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Genesis GV80 Coupe are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The BMW X6 doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

Both the GV80 Coupe and X6 have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The GV80 Coupe has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The X6’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

The GV80 Coupe has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The X6 doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

Both the GV80 Coupe and X6 have rear cross-traffic warning, but the GV80 Coupe has Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The X6’s Cross Traffic Warning doesn’t automatically brake.

The GV80 Coupe comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The X6’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Genesis’ powertrain warranty covers the GV80 Coupe 6 years and 50,000 miles longer than BMW covers the X6. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the X6 ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Genesis vehicles are better in initial quality than BMW vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Genesis above average in initial quality. With 22 more problems per 100 vehicles, BMW is rated below average.

The GV80 3.5 e-Supercharger’s standard 3.5 turbo/supercharged V6 hybrid produces 34 more horsepower (409 vs. 375) and 7 lbs.-ft. more torque (405 vs. 398) than the X6 xDrive40i’s standard 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder hybrid.

On the EPA test cycle the GV80 3.5 e-Supercharger 3.5 turbo/supercharged V6 Hybrid gets better fuel mileage than the X6 M60i (18 city/22 hwy vs. 17 city/22 hwy).

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Genesis GV80 Coupe uses regular unleaded gasoline (premium recommended for maximum performance). The X6 requires premium, which can cost on average about 82.8 cents more per gallon.

For better stopping power the GV80 Coupe’s standard brake rotors are larger than those on the X6:

The GV80 Coupe’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The X6 doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.
