Safety
Warranty
The Daytona SP3 comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The MC20’s 50,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.
The Daytona SP3’s corrosion warranty is unlimited miles longer than the MC20’s (unlimited vs. 50,000 miles).
Ferrari pays for scheduled maintenance on the Daytona SP3 for 7 years and unlimited miles. Ferrari will pay for oil changes, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Maserati doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the MC20.
Engine
The Daytona SP3’s 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 208 more horsepower (829 vs. 621) than the MC20’s 3.0 turbo V6.
Fuel Economy and Range
In heavy traffic or at stoplights the Daytona SP3’s engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. The engine is automatically restarted when the driver gets ready to move again. If the conditions warrant or the driver wishes, the system can be manually disabled at any time for the duration of a trip. The MC20 doesn’t offer an automatic engine start/stop system.
The Daytona SP3 has 8.4 gallons more fuel capacity than the MC20 (24.3 vs. 15.9 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.
Tires and Wheels
For better traction, the Daytona SP3 has larger tires than the MC20 (F:265/30R20 & R:345/30R21 vs. F:245/35R20 & R:305/30R20).
The Daytona SP3’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the MC20’s standard 35 series front tires.
For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Daytona SP3 has standard 21-inch rear wheels. Only 20-inch wheels are available on the MC20.
Ergonomics
The Daytona SP3’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The MC20 has neither an oil pressure gauge nor a temperature gauge.
In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Daytona SP3 has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The MC20 doesn’t offer headlight washers.
To help drivers see further while navigating curves, the Daytona SP3 offers optional adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle. The MC20 doesn’t offer cornering lights.
The Daytona SP3’s sun-visors swivel front-to-side to block glare from the side windows. The MC20’s visors are fixed into the windshield header.
When the Daytona SP3 with available tilt-down mirrors is put in reverse, the passenger rearview mirror tilts from its original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirror into its original position. The MC20’s mirror doesn’t automatically adjust for backing.
