Safety

The Daytona SP3 offers available parking sensors to help warn the driver about vehicles, pedestrians or other obstacles behind or in front of their vehicle. The Corvette doesn’t offer a front parking aid.

Both the Daytona SP3 and the Corvette have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and rearview cameras.

Warranty

The Daytona SP3 comes with a full 3-year/unlimited-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The Corvette’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires sooner.

The Daytona SP3’s corrosion warranty is unlimited miles longer than the Corvette’s (unlimited vs. 100,000 miles).

Ferrari pays for scheduled maintenance on the Daytona SP3 for 7 years and unlimited miles. Ferrari will pay for oil changes, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Chevrolet only pays for the first scheduled maintenance visit on the Corvette.

Reliability

For smoother operation, better efficiency and fewer moving parts, the Daytona SP3 has an overhead cam design, rather than the old pushrod design of some of the engines in the Corvette.

Engine

The Daytona SP3’s 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 339 more horsepower (829 vs. 490) and 49 lbs.-ft. more torque (514 vs. 465) than the Corvette’s standard 6.2 V8. The Daytona SP3’s 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 334 more horsepower (829 vs. 495) and 44 lbs.-ft. more torque (514 vs. 470) than the Corvette Z51’s standard 6.2 V8. The Daytona SP3’s 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 174 more horsepower (829 vs. 655) than the Corvette E-Ray’s standard 6.2 V8 hybrid. The Daytona SP3’s 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 159 more horsepower (829 vs. 670) and 54 lbs.-ft. more torque (514 vs. 460) than the Corvette Z06’s standard 5.5 DOHC V8.

Fuel Economy and Range

In heavy traffic or at stoplights the Daytona SP3’s engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. The engine is automatically restarted when the driver gets ready to move again. If the conditions warrant or the driver wishes, the system can be manually disabled at any time for the duration of a trip. The Corvette doesn’t offer an automatic engine start/stop system.

The Daytona SP3 has 5.8 gallons more fuel capacity than the Corvette (24.3 vs. 18.5 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Daytona SP3 has larger tires than the Corvette (F:265/30R20 & R:345/30R21 vs. F:245/35R19 & R:305/30R20).

The Daytona SP3’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Corvette’s standard 35 series front tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Daytona SP3 has standard 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels. Smaller 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels are standard on the Corvette.

Ergonomics

The Daytona SP3’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Corvette’s manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Daytona SP3 has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The Corvette doesn’t offer headlight washers.

To help drivers see further while navigating curves, the Daytona SP3 offers optional adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle. The Corvette doesn’t offer cornering lights.
