Safety
Warranty
Ferrari pays for scheduled maintenance on the Daytona SP3 for 7 years and unlimited miles. Ferrari will pay for oil changes, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Aston Martin doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the Vantage.
Engine
The Daytona SP3’s 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 326 more horsepower (829 vs. 503) and 9 lbs.-ft. more torque (514 vs. 505) than the Vantage’s standard 4.0 turbo V8. The Daytona SP3’s 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 302 more horsepower (829 vs. 527) and 9 lbs.-ft. more torque (514 vs. 505) than the Vantage F1’s standard 4.0 turbo V8. The Daytona SP3’s 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 139 more horsepower (829 vs. 690) than the Vantage’s optional 5.2 turbo V12.
Fuel Economy and Range
The Daytona SP3 has 5 gallons more fuel capacity than the Vantage (24.3 vs. 19.3 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.
The Daytona SP3 has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The Vantage doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.
Transmission
The Daytona SP3 offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The Vantage doesn’t offer an SMG or a conventional manual transmission.
The Daytona SP3’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The Vantage doesn’t offer launch control.
Tires and Wheels
For better traction, the Daytona SP3 has larger tires than the Vantage (F:265/30R20 & R:345/30R21 vs. F:255/40R20 & R:295/35R20).
The Daytona SP3’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Vantage’s standard 40 series front and 35 series rear tires. The Daytona SP3’s tires are lower profile than the Vantage F1/V12’s 35 series front tires.
For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Daytona SP3 has standard 21-inch rear wheels. Smaller 20-inch wheels are standard on the Vantage.
Chassis
The Daytona SP3’s standard power retractable hardtop allows a seamless transition from an open car, to a completely sealed coupe. The Vantage doesn’t offer a retractable hardtop.
Cargo Capacity
A standard locking glovebox keeps your small valuables safer in the Daytona SP3. The Vantage doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.
Ergonomics
The Daytona SP3’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The Vantage does not have an oil pressure gauge.
The Daytona SP3’s driver’s power window opens or closes with one touch of the window control, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths. The Vantage’s power windows’ switch has to be held the entire time to close it fully.
To help drivers see further while navigating curves, the Daytona SP3 offers optional adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle. The Vantage doesn’t offer cornering lights.
The Daytona SP3’s sun-visors swivel front-to-side to block glare from the side windows. The Vantage’s visors are fixed into the windshield header.
