Safety
Warranty
Ferrari pays for scheduled maintenance on the Daytona SP3 for 7 years and unlimited miles. Ferrari will pay for oil changes, air filter replacements, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Aston Martin doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the DBS.
Engine
The Daytona SP3’s 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 114 more horsepower (829 vs. 715) than the DBS’ standard 5.2 turbo V12. The Daytona SP3’s 6.5 DOHC V12 produces 69 more horsepower (829 vs. 760) than the DBS 770 Ultimate Edition’s standard 5.2 turbo V12.
Fuel Economy and Range
The Daytona SP3 has 3.2 gallons more fuel capacity than the DBS (24.3 vs. 21.1 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.
The Daytona SP3 has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The DBS doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.
Transmission
The Daytona SP3 offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The DBS doesn’t offer an SMG or a conventional manual transmission.
The Daytona SP3’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The DBS doesn’t offer launch control.
Tires and Wheels
For better traction and acceleration, the Daytona SP3 has larger rear tires than the DBS (345/30R21 vs. 305/30R21).
The Daytona SP3’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the DBS’ standard 35 series front tires.
Chassis
The Ferrari Daytona SP3 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 600 to 850 pounds less than the Aston Martin DBS.
The Daytona SP3’s standard power retractable hardtop allows a seamless transition from an open car, to a completely sealed coupe. The DBS doesn’t offer a retractable hardtop.
Cargo Capacity
A standard locking glovebox keeps your small valuables safer in the Daytona SP3. The DBS doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.
Ergonomics
The Daytona SP3’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The DBS does not have an oil pressure gauge.
In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Daytona SP3 has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The DBS doesn’t offer headlight washers.
The Daytona SP3’s sun-visors swivel front-to-side to block glare from the side windows. The DBS’ visors are fixed into the windshield header.
