The GranTurismo Folgore has all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The Supra doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.

The Maserati GranTurismo Folgore weighs 1582 to 1801 pounds more than the Toyota Supra. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

The GranTurismo Folgore comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The Supra’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 14,000 miles sooner.

The GranTurismo Folgore’s electric motors produces 496 more horsepower (751 vs. 255) and 701 lbs.-ft. more torque (996 vs. 295) than the Supra’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder. The GranTurismo Folgore’s electric motors produces 369 more horsepower (751 vs. 382) and 628 lbs.-ft. more torque (996 vs. 368) than the Supra’s optional 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder.

On the EPA test cycle the GranTurismo Folgore gets better mileage than the Supra:

The GranTurismo Folgore can travel with zero emissions for 242 miles. The Supra can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

The GranTurismo Folgore has 4.8 gallons more fuel capacity than the Supra (18.5 vs. 13.7 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Maserati GranTurismo Folgore higher (10 out of 10) than the Toyota Supra (5 to 7). This means the GranTurismo Folgore produces up to 19.8 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Supra every 15,000 miles.

All wheel drive, available in the GranTurismo Folgore, provides the best traction for acceleration in wet, dry, and icy conditions. In corners, all wheel drive allows both outside wheels to provide power, balancing the car. This allows for better handling. The Toyota Supra is not available with all wheel drive.

For better traction, the GranTurismo Folgore has larger tires than the Supra (F:265/30R20 & R:295/30R21 vs. F:255/35R19 & R:275/35R19).

The GranTurismo Folgore’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Supra 2.0’s standard 40 series tires. The GranTurismo Folgore’s tires are lower profile than the Supra 3.0’s 35 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the GranTurismo Folgore has standard 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the Supra 2.0. The Supra’s largest wheels are only 19-inches.

The front and rear suspension of the GranTurismo Folgore uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the Supra, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The GranTurismo Folgore has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The GranTurismo Folgore’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The Supra doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the GranTurismo Folgore’s wheelbase is 18.1 inches longer than on the Supra (115.3 inches vs. 97.2 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the GranTurismo Folgore is 2 inches wider in the front and 2.8 inches wider in the rear than on the Supra.

The GranTurismo Folgore’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (50% to 50%) than the Supra’s (51.5% to 48.5%). This gives the GranTurismo Folgore more stable handling and braking.

To make loading and unloading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the GranTurismo Folgore’s trunk can be opened just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The GranTurismo Folgore also offers an optional power trunk, which opens and closes automatically by pressing a button or just by kicking your foot under the back bumper. The Supra doesn’t offer a power or hands-free opening trunk.

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the Supra 3.0, the GranTurismo Folgore has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position, outside mirror angle, climate settings and radio stations and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The GranTurismo Folgore’s standard Extended Keyless Go allow you to unlock the doors from either outside door handle, open the trunk, and start the car, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Smart Key System standard on the Supra doesn’t offer a sensor on the trunk.

To help drivers avoid possible obstacles, the GranTurismo Folgore offers optional cornering lights to illuminate around corners when the turn signals are activated. The Supra doesn’t offer cornering lights. The GranTurismo Folgore also offers optional adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the GranTurismo Folgore has standard extendable sun visors. The Supra doesn’t offer extendable visors.

The GranTurismo Folgore’s sun-visors swivel front-to-side to block glare from the side windows. The Supra’s visors are fixed into the windshield header.

Optional air-conditioned seats in the GranTurismo Folgore keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in Summer. The Supra doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

On extremely cold winter days, the GranTurismo Folgore’s optional heated steering wheel provides comfort, allowing the driver to steer safely and comfortably before the car heater warms up. The Supra doesn’t offer a heated steering wheel.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Maserati GranTurismo Folgore has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Only the Supra 3.0 Manual/Premium/45th Anniversary offers wireless charging.
