Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The GranTurismo Folgore has standard Rear Emergency Braking that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The 911 doesn’t offer automatic braking for stationary objects directly to the rear.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, Full-Time Four-Wheel Drive is standard on the GranTurismo Folgore. But it costs extra on the 911.

The GranTurismo Folgore’s optional driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The 911 doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the GranTurismo Folgore and the 911 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems and rear cross-path warning.

The Maserati GranTurismo Folgore weighs 1192 to 1759 pounds more than the Porsche 911. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

The GranTurismo Folgore’s electric motors produces 372 more horsepower (751 vs. 379) and 665 lbs.-ft. more torque (996 vs. 331) than the 911’s standard 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder. The GranTurismo Folgore’s electric motors produces 308 more horsepower (751 vs. 443) and 606 lbs.-ft. more torque (996 vs. 390) than the 911 S’ standard 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder. The GranTurismo Folgore’s electric motors produces 278 more horsepower (751 vs. 473) and 576 lbs.-ft. more torque (996 vs. 420) than the 911 GTS/Dakar’s standard 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder. The GranTurismo Folgore can travel with zero emissions for 242 miles. The 911 can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

Regenerative brakes improve the GranTurismo Folgore’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The 911 doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

The GranTurismo Folgore has 1.6 gallons more fuel capacity than the 911’s standard fuel tank (18.5 vs. 16.9 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Maserati GranTurismo Folgore higher (10 out of 10) than the Porsche 911 (3 to 5). This means the GranTurismo Folgore produces up to 36.3 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the 911 every 15,000 miles.

The GranTurismo Folgore’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the 911 Dakar’s standard 45 series front and 40 series rear tires.

The 911 doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the GranTurismo Folgore’s wheelbase is 18.8 inches longer than on the 911 (115.3 inches vs. 96.5 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the GranTurismo Folgore is 2.1 inches wider in the front and 3.9 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the 911.

Because it has more passenger and cargo room, the EPA rates the GranTurismo Folgore a Subcompact car, while the 911 Coupe is rated a Minicompact.

The GranTurismo Folgore has 16 cubic feet more passenger volume than the 911 (89 vs. 73).

The GranTurismo Folgore has a much larger trunk than the 911 Coupe with its rear seat up (9.5 vs. 4.6 cubic feet).

To make loading and unloading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the GranTurismo Folgore’s trunk can be opened just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The GranTurismo Folgore also offers an optional power trunk, which opens and closes automatically by pressing a button or just by kicking your foot under the back bumper. The 911 doesn’t offer a power or hands-free opening trunk.

Unlike the driver-only memory system optional at extra cost in the 911, the GranTurismo Folgore has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position, outside mirror angle, climate settings and radio stations and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The GranTurismo Folgore offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed, navigation instruction and driver assistance information readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The 911 doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

If the windows are left open on the GranTurismo Folgore the driver can close them all from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the 911 can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The GranTurismo Folgore has standard Extended Keyless Go that allows you to unlock the doors from either outside door handle, open the trunk, and start the car, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. The 911 GT3 doesn’t offer Comfort Access.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the GranTurismo Folgore has standard extendable sun visors. The 911 doesn’t offer extendable visors.

For greater rear passenger comfort, the GranTurismo Folgore has standard rear a/c vents to keep rear occupants more comfortable. The 911 doesn’t offer rear vents.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Maserati GranTurismo Folgore has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the front center console. The 911 doesn’t offer wireless personal charging.
