The GranTurismo Folgore has standard Rear Emergency Braking that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The LC doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.

The GranTurismo Folgore has all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The LC doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.

Both the GranTurismo Folgore and the LC have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

The Maserati GranTurismo Folgore weighs 442 to 642 pounds more than the Lexus LC. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

The GranTurismo Folgore’s electric motors produces 397 more horsepower (751 vs. 354) and 646 lbs.-ft. more torque (996 vs. 350) than the LC 500h’s standard 3.5 DOHC V6 hybrid. The GranTurismo Folgore’s electric motors produces 280 more horsepower (751 vs. 471) and 598 lbs.-ft. more torque (996 vs. 398) than the LC 500’s standard 5.0 DOHC V8.

On the EPA test cycle the GranTurismo Folgore gets better mileage than the LC Coupe:

The GranTurismo Folgore can travel with zero emissions for 242 miles. The LC has to start its internal combustion engine after only .6 miles.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Maserati GranTurismo Folgore higher (10 out of 10) than the Lexus LC (5 to 7). This means the GranTurismo Folgore produces up to 19.8 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the LC every 15,000 miles.

All wheel drive, available in the GranTurismo Folgore, provides the best traction for acceleration in wet, dry, and icy conditions. In corners, all wheel drive allows both outside wheels to provide power, balancing the car. This allows for better handling. The Lexus LC is not available with all wheel drive.

The GranTurismo Folgore’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The LC doesn’t offer launch control.

For better traction, the GranTurismo Folgore has larger tires than the LC (F:265/30R20 & R:295/30R21 vs. F:245/45R20 & R:275/40R20).

The GranTurismo Folgore’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the LC’s standard 45 series front and 40 series rear tires. The GranTurismo Folgore’s tires are lower profile than the LC’s optional 40 series front and 35 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the GranTurismo Folgore has standard 21-inch rear wheels. Smaller 20-inch wheels are standard on the LC.

The front and rear suspension of the GranTurismo Folgore uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the LC, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The GranTurismo Folgore has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The GranTurismo Folgore’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The LC doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the GranTurismo Folgore’s wheelbase is 2.3 inches longer than on the LC (115.3 inches vs. 113 inches).

The GranTurismo Folgore’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (50% to 50%) than the LC’s (52% to 48%). This gives the GranTurismo Folgore more stable handling and braking.

The design of the Maserati GranTurismo Folgore amounts to more than styling. The GranTurismo Folgore has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .26 Cd. That is significantly lower than the LC (.33 to .34). A more efficient exterior helps the GranTurismo Folgore go faster and keeps the interior quieter. It also helps the GranTurismo Folgore get better fuel mileage.

The GranTurismo Folgore has 3.1 cubic feet more passenger volume than the LC (89 vs. 85.9).

The GranTurismo Folgore has a much larger trunk than the LC (9.5 vs. 5.4 cubic feet).

To make loading and unloading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the GranTurismo Folgore’s trunk can be opened just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The GranTurismo Folgore also offers an optional power trunk, which opens and closes automatically by pressing a button or just by kicking your foot under the back bumper. The LC doesn’t offer a power or hands-free opening trunk.

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the LC, the GranTurismo Folgore has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position, outside mirror angle, climate settings and radio stations and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The LC’s cornering lamps activate a lamp on the front corner when the turn signal is activated. The GranTurismo Folgore’s optional adaptive cornering lights turn the actual headlight unit up to several degrees, depending on steering wheel angle and vehicle speed. This lights a significant distance into corners at any speed.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the GranTurismo Folgore has standard extendable sun visors. The LC doesn’t offer extendable visors.

When the GranTurismo Folgore is put in reverse, both rearview mirrors tilt from their original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirrors into their original positions. The LC’s mirrors don’t automatically adjust for backing.

For greater rear passenger comfort, the GranTurismo Folgore has standard rear a/c vents to keep rear occupants more comfortable. The LC doesn’t offer rear vents.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Maserati GranTurismo Folgore has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the front center console. The LC doesn’t offer wireless personal charging.
