Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The GranCabrio Foglore has standard Rear Emergency Braking that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The 911 doesn’t offer automatic braking for stationary objects directly to the rear.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, Full-Time Four-Wheel Drive is standard on the GranCabrio Foglore. But it costs extra on the 911.

The GranCabrio Foglore’s optional driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The 911 doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the GranCabrio Foglore and the 911 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

The Maserati GranCabrio Foglore weighs 1368 to 1935 pounds more than the Porsche 911. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

The GranCabrio Foglore’s electric motors produces 372 more horsepower (751 vs. 379) and 665 lbs.-ft. more torque (996 vs. 331) than the 911’s standard 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder. The GranCabrio Foglore’s electric motors produces 308 more horsepower (751 vs. 443) and 606 lbs.-ft. more torque (996 vs. 390) than the 911 S’ standard 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder. The GranCabrio Foglore can travel with zero emissions on a full charge for 233 miles. The 911 can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

Regenerative brakes improve the GranCabrio Foglore’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The 911 doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Maserati GranCabrio Foglore higher (10 out of 10) than the Porsche 911 (3 to 5). This means the GranCabrio Foglore produces up to 36.3 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the 911 every 15,000 miles.

For better traction, the GranCabrio Foglore has larger front tires than the 911 (F:265/30R20 & R:295/30R21 vs. F:235/40R19 & R:295/35R20).

The GranCabrio Foglore’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the 911 Dakar’s standard 45 series front and 40 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the GranCabrio Foglore has standard 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels. Smaller 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels are standard on the 911.

The front and rear suspension of the GranCabrio Foglore uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the 911, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The GranCabrio Foglore has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The GranCabrio Foglore’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The 911 doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the GranCabrio Foglore is 2.2 inches wider in the front and 3.9 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the 911.

Unlike the driver-only memory system optional at extra cost in the 911, the GranCabrio Foglore has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position, outside mirror angle, climate settings and radio stations and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The GranCabrio Foglore offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed, navigation instruction and driver assistance information readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The 911 doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

The GranCabrio Foglore has standard Extended Keyless Go that allows you to unlock the doors from either outside door handle, open the trunk, and start the car, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. The 911 GT3 doesn’t offer Comfort Access.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the GranCabrio Foglore has standard extendable sun visors. The 911 doesn’t offer extendable visors.

The GranCabrio Foglore has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the car heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the 911.

For greater rear passenger comfort, the GranCabrio Foglore has standard rear a/c vents to keep rear occupants more comfortable. The 911 doesn’t offer rear vents.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Maserati GranCabrio Foglore has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the glovebox. The 911 doesn’t offer wireless personal charging.
