Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The GranCabrio Foglore has standard Rear Emergency Braking that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The LC doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.
The GranCabrio Foglore has all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The LC doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.
Both the GranCabrio Foglore and the LC have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.
The Maserati GranCabrio Foglore weighs 618 to 818 pounds more than the Lexus LC. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.
