Compare the2024 Maserati GranCabrioVS 2024 Bentley Continental GT

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The GranCabrio has standard Rear Emergency Braking that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The Continental GT doesn’t offer automatic braking for stationary objects directly to the rear.

The GranCabrio’s optional driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Continental GT doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the GranCabrio and the Continental GT have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

The GranCabrio comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The Continental GT’s 3-year basic warranty expires 1 year sooner.

The GranCabrio’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the Continental GT’s (4 vs. 3 years).

There are over 2 times as many Maserati dealers as there are Bentley dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the GranCabrio’s warranty.

On the EPA test cycle the GranCabrio gets better mileage than the Continental GT GTC:

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Maserati GranCabrio higher (5 out of 10) than the Bentley Continental GT (3). This means the GranCabrio produces up to 16.5 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Continental GT every 15,000 miles.

The GranCabrio’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Continental GT’s standard 40 series front and 35 series rear tires. The GranCabrio’s tires are lower profile than the Continental GT’s optional 35 series front tires.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the GranCabrio’s wheelbase is 3.1 inches longer than on the Continental GT (115.3 inches vs. 112.2 inches).

The GranCabrio’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (51% to 49%) than the Continental GT’s (54.7% to 45.3%). This gives the GranCabrio more stable handling and braking.

The Maserati GranCabrio may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 450 to 1000 pounds less than the Bentley Continental GT.

The front grille of the GranCabrio uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The Continental GT doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

Because it has more passenger and cargo room, the EPA rates the GranCabrio a Subcompact car, while the Continental GT GTC is rated a Minicompact.

The GranCabrio has 12 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Continental GTC (89 vs. 77).

The GranCabrio’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The Continental GT does not have an oil pressure gauge.

The GranCabrio’s cruise control switch is lit from behind, making it plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The Continental GT’s cruise control switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the GranCabrio to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Continental GT doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

To help drivers avoid possible obstacles, the GranCabrio has standard cornering lights to illuminate around corners when the turn signals are activated. The Continental GT doesn’t offer cornering lights. The GranCabrio also has standard adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the GranCabrio has standard extendable sun visors. The Continental GT only offers a small additional center visor.

Both the GranCabrio and the Continental GT offer rear vents. For greater rear passenger comfort, the GranCabrio has standard rear air conditioning vents to keep rear occupants cool in summer or warm in winter. The Continental GT doesn’t offer rear air conditioning vents, only heat vents.
