For enhanced safety, the front and rear seat shoulder belts of the Jaguar E-Pace have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers. The Alfa Romeo Tonale doesn’t offer pretensioners for its rear seat belts.

Both the E-Pace and Tonale have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The E-Pace has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The Tonale’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

Using vehicle speed sensors and seat sensors, smart airbags in the E-Pace deploy with different levels of force to help better protect passengers of all sizes in different collisions. The E-Pace’s side airbags will shut off if a child is leaning against the door. The Tonale’s side airbags don’t have smart features and will always deploy full force.

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the E-Pace’s standard All Surface Progress Control allows you to creep down safely. The Tonale doesn’t offer All Surface Progress Control.

Both the E-Pace and Tonale have rear cross-traffic warning, but the E-Pace has Rear Traffic Braking (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The Tonale’s Rear Cross-Path Detection doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the E-Pace and the Tonale have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The E-Pace comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Tonale’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

The E-Pace’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the Tonale’s (6 vs. 5 years).

Jaguar pays for scheduled maintenance on the E-Pace for 5 years and 60,000 miles. Jaguar will pay for oil changes, tire rotations, air filter replacements, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Alfa Romeo only pays for the first scheduled maintenance visit on the Tonale.

There are over 17 percent more Jaguar dealers than there are Alfa Romeo dealers, which makes it easier should you ever need service under the E-Pace’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Jaguar vehicles are more reliable than Alfa Romeo With 12 fewer problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, J.D. Power ranks Jaguar higher than Alfa Romeo.

The E-Pace has 6.5 gallons more fuel capacity than the Tonale (17.7 vs. 11.2 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Jaguar E-Pace higher (7 out of 10) than the Alfa Romeo Tonale (6). This means the E-Pace produces up to 1.1 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Tonale every 15,000 miles.

A nine-speed automatic is standard on the Jaguar E-Pace, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a six-speed automatic is available for the Tonale.

The E-Pace’s standard front and rear disc brakes are vented to help dissipate heat for shorter stops with less fading. The rear discs on the Tonale are solid, not vented.

For better traction, the E-Pace has larger standard tires than the Tonale (235/55R19 vs. 225/55R18). The E-Pace’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Tonale (245/45R20 vs. 235/45R19).

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the E-Pace has standard 19-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the Tonale. The E-Pace’s optional 21-inch wheels are larger than the 20-inch wheels optional on the Tonale.

The E-Pace has a standard space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the Tonale; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the E-Pace’s wheelbase is 1.8 inches longer than on the Tonale (105.6 inches vs. 103.8 inches).

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the E-Pace is 2 inches wider in the front and 1.9 inches wider in the rear than the track on the Tonale.

For greater off-road capability the E-Pace has a 2.4 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the Tonale (8 vs. 5.6 inches), allowing the E-Pace to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The Jaguar E-Pace may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 200 pounds less than the Alfa Romeo Tonale.

The E-Pace is 5.3 inches shorter than the Tonale, making the E-Pace easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The E-Pace has .4 inches more front shoulder room, .1 inches more rear headroom and 1 inch more rear shoulder room than the Tonale.

A standard locking glovebox (which can’t be accessed with the valet key) keeps your small valuables safer in the E-Pace. The Tonale doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.

The E-Pace’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Tonale’s (3968 vs. 2000 pounds).

The E-Pace’s standard easy entry system glides the driver’s seat back, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. An easy entry system costs extra on the Tonale.

The E-Pace offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed and navigation instruction readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Tonale doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

The E-Pace’s standard Keyless Start and Entry allow you to unlock the doors from any outside door handle, open the cargo door, and start the engine, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Keyless-Enter-n-Go standard on the Tonale doesn’t offer a sensor on the rear doors, so you’ll have to reach a front handle to unlock the rear door.

When the E-Pace is put in reverse, both rearview mirrors tilt from their original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirrors into their original positions. The Tonale’s mirrors don’t automatically adjust for backing.

Both the E-Pace and the Tonale have standard heated front seats. The E-Pace also offers optional heated rear seats to keep those passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated rear seats aren’t available in the Tonale.
