Infiniti pays for scheduled maintenance on the QX80 for 2 years and 35000 miles longer than Lexus pays for maintenance for the GX (3/45000 vs. 1/10,000).

The QX80’s 5.6 DOHC V8 produces 51 more horsepower (400 vs. 349) than the GX’s 3.4 turbo V6.

The QX80 has 4.9 gallons more fuel capacity than the GX (26 vs. 21.1 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

For better traction, the QX80 has larger tires than the GX (275/60R20 vs. 265/55R20).

The QX80 Luxe’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 60 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the GX Overtrail’s standard 70 series tires.

The rear suspension of the QX80 uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the GX, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The QX80 Sensory has a standard automatic rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The GX doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the QX80’s wheelbase is 8.9 inches longer than on the GX (121.1 inches vs. 112.2 inches).

The design of the Infiniti QX80 amounts to more than styling. The QX80 has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .367 Cd. That is lower than the GX (.39). A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the QX80 get better fuel mileage.

Pressing a switch automatically lowers the QX80 Sensory’s second and third row seats, to make changing between passengers and cargo easier. The GX doesn’t offer automatic folding second row seats.

The QX80 has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the GX.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Infiniti QX80 has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the GX.

The QX80 is available in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The GX doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
