Safety

For enhanced safety, the front and rear seat shoulder belts of the Mercedes AMG GLC Coupe have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers. The Maserati Grecale doesn’t offer pretensioners for its rear seat belts.

The AMG GLC Coupe’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Grecale doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

The AMG GLC Coupe offers optional Post-Collision Brake, which automatically apply the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Grecale doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

Earlier warning of stopped traffic, traffic signals, dangerous road conditions, weather, or accidents, can keep driver's safer and prevent crashes. The AMG GLC Coupe has Car-to-X, a system that seamlessly communicates important warnings to the driver about impending danger, if they're available. The Grecale doesn’t offer a system that can receive automated systems from other vehicles.

The AMG GLC Coupe has a standard blind spot warning system that uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them. A system to reveal vehicles in the Grecale’s blind spot costs extra.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the AMG GLC Coupe has standard Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and Active Brake Assist automatically engages the brakes to help avoid a collision. Maserati charges extra for Rear Cross Path on the Grecale and the Grecale’s Rear Cross Path does not include automatic braking.

Both the AMG GLC Coupe and the Grecale have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, rearview cameras and available lane departure warning systems.

Warranty

The AMG GLC Coupe’s corrosion warranty is 1 year and unlimited miles longer than the Grecale’s (5/unlimited vs. 4/50,000).

There are almost 4 times as many Mercedes dealers as there are Maserati dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the AMG GLC Coupe’s warranty.

Engine

The AMG GLC Coupe’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid produces 120 more horsepower (416 vs. 296) and 37 lbs.-ft. more torque (369 vs. 332) than the Grecale GT’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid. The AMG GLC Coupe’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid produces 91 more horsepower (416 vs. 325) and 37 lbs.-ft. more torque (369 vs. 332) than the Grecale Modena’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid.

Transmission

A nine-speed automatic is standard on the Mercedes AMG GLC Coupe, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only an eight-speed automatic is available for the Grecale.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the AMG GLC Coupe’s brake rotors are larger than those on the Grecale:

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the AMG GLC Coupe has larger tires than the Grecale (F:265/40R21 & R:295/38R21 vs. 235/55R19). The AMG GLC 43 Coupe’s front tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Grecale (F:265/40R21 & R:295/38R21 vs. F:255/45R20 & R:295/40R20).

The AMG GLC 43 Coupe’s standard 265/45R20 front and 295/40R20 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series front and 40 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Grecale GT’s standard 55 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the AMG GLC 43 Coupe has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the Grecale GT.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires available on the AMG GLC Coupe can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The Grecale doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

Suspension and Handling

The AMG GLC Coupe’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The Grecale doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the AMG GLC Coupe is 1.8 inches wider in the front than on the Grecale.

Passenger Space

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the AMG GLC Coupe’s rear seats recline. The Grecale’s rear seats don’t recline.

Cargo Capacity

The AMG GLC Coupe has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the Grecale (21.5 vs. 18.9 cubic feet).

Ergonomics

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the Grecale, the AMG GLC Coupe has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

Heated windshield washer fluid is standard on the AMG GLC Coupe to defrost the washer nozzles and quickly clear ice and frost from the windshield without scraping. The Grecale doesn’t offer heated windshield washer fluid. Its optional heated washer nozzles will defrost the washer fluid but not the windshield.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Mercedes AMG GLC has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the Grecale.

The AMG GLC Coupe’s Active Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. The Grecale doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
