The Chevrolet Blazer EV has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Santa Fe Hybrid doesn’t offer a front passenger side knee airbag.

Both the Blazer EV and the Santa Fe Hybrid have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, available around view monitors and driver alert monitors.

The Chevrolet Blazer EV weighs 660 to 1160 pounds more than the Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

There are over 3 times as many Chevrolet dealers as there are Hyundai dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Blazer EV’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2023 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Chevrolet vehicles are better in initial quality than Hyundai vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Chevrolet above average in initial quality. With 22 more problems per 100 vehicles, Hyundai is rated lower.

The Blazer EV’s standard electric motors produces 57 more horsepower (288 vs. 231) and 62 lbs.-ft. more torque (333 vs. 271) than the Santa Fe Hybrid’s 1.6 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid.

On the EPA test cycle the Blazer EV gets better mileage than the Santa Fe Hybrid:

The Blazer EV can travel with zero emissions for 279 miles. The Santa Fe Hybrid can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Chevrolet Blazer EV higher (10 out of 10) than the Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid (7). This means the Blazer EV produces up to 11.8 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Santa Fe Hybrid every 15,000 miles.

For better traction, the Blazer EV has larger standard tires than the Santa Fe Hybrid (255/60R19 vs. 235/60R18). The Blazer EV RS’ tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Santa Fe Hybrid (275/45R21 vs. 255/45R20).

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Blazer EV LT has standard 19-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the Santa Fe SEL Hybrid. The Blazer EV RS’ 21-inch wheels are larger than the 20-inch wheels on the Santa Fe Hybrid Limited/Calligraphy.

The Chevrolet Blazer EV’s wheels have 6 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid only has 5 wheel lugs per wheel.

The Blazer EV has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The Santa Fe Hybrid doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires available on the Blazer EV can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The Santa Fe Hybrid doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Blazer EV’s wheelbase is 11 inches longer than on the Santa Fe Hybrid (121.8 inches vs. 110.8 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Blazer EV is 1.3 inches wider in the front and 1 inch wider in the rear than the average track on the Santa Fe Hybrid.

For greater off-road capability the Blazer EV has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Santa Fe Hybrid (7.9 vs. 7 inches), allowing the Blazer EV to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The Blazer EV has .9 inches more front hip room and .2 inches more rear shoulder room than the Santa Fe Hybrid.

The Blazer EV has a much larger cargo volume than the Santa Fe Hybrid with its rear seat up (25.5 vs. 14.6 cubic feet).

Maximum trailer towing in the Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid is limited to 2000 pounds. The Blazer EV RS 4x4 offers up to a 3500 lbs. towing capacity.

The Blazer EV’s front and rear power windows all lower with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The Santa Fe Hybrid’s standard power windows’ rear power window switches have to be held the entire time to open them fully.

The Blazer EV’s standard Keyless Access allow you to unlock the doors from any outside door handle, unlock the cargo door, and start the vehicle, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Proximity Key standard on the Santa Fe Hybrid doesn’t offer a sensor on the rear doors, so you’ll have to reach a front handle to unlock the rear door.

The Blazer EV’s optional rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The Santa Fe Hybrid offers an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.
