Dodge’s powertrain warranty covers the Hornet 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Land Rover covers the Range Rover Evoque. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Coverage on the Range Rover Evoque ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

There are almost 12 times as many Dodge dealers as there are Land Rover dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Hornet’s warranty.

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the Hornet’s reliability 12 points higher than the Range Rover Evoque.

Power ranks Dodge first in initial quality, above the industry average. With 63 more problems per 100 vehicles, Land Rover is ranked 25th, below the industry average.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Dodge vehicles are more reliable than Land Rover vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Dodge above average in long-term dependability. With 26 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, Land Rover is rated below average.

The Hornet GT’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder produces 22 more horsepower (268 vs. 246) and 26 lbs.-ft. more torque (295 vs. 269) than the Range Rover Evoque’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder. The Hornet R/T’s standard 1.3 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid produces 42 more horsepower (288 vs. 246) and 114 lbs.-ft. more torque (383 vs. 269) than the Range Rover Evoque’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder.

The Hornet has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The Range Rover Evoque doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

The Hornet R/T has a standard locking fuel door with a power remote release convenient to the driver. The fuel filler door is not lockable on the Range Rover Evoque. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank.

Insurance will cost less for the Hornet owner. The Complete Car Cost Guide estimates that insurance for the Hornet will cost $1500 to $3305 less than the Range Rover Evoque over a five-year period.

IntelliChoice estimates that five-year ownership costs (depreciation, financing, insurance, fuel, fees, repairs and maintenance) for the Dodge Hornet will be $17733 to $22278 less than for the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque.
