The GV70’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The E-Pace doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Genesis GV70 are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Jaguar E-Pace doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the GV70 are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The E-Pace doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

The Genesis GV70 has a standard driver’s side knee airbag mounted low on the dashboard. The knee airbag helps prevent the driver from sliding under the seatbelts or the main frontal airbag; this keeps the driver better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. A knee airbag also helps keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The E-Pace doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The GV70 has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The E-Pace doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The GV70 Advanced/Prestige has a standard Reverse Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The E-Pace doesn’t offer automatic braking for stationary objects directly to the rear.

Both the GV70 and the E-Pace have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The Genesis GV70 (built after November 2023) achieved a “Top Safety Pick” rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for the 2024 model year. This recognition was based on its impressive performance in the small overlap frontal crash test, updated side impact crash test, headlight evaluations, and pedestrian crash prevention testing. The E-Pace has not yet been evaluated by the IIHS for 2024.

Genesis’ powertrain warranty covers the GV70 5 years and 40,000 miles longer than Jaguar covers the E-Pace. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the E-Pace ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

The GV70’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the E-Pace’s (7 vs. 6 years).

There are over 65 percent more Genesis dealers than there are Jaguar dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the GV70’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2023 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Genesis vehicles are better in initial quality than Jaguar vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Genesis above average in initial quality. With 9 more problems per 100 vehicles, Jaguar is rated lower.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the statistics that show that Genesis vehicles are more reliable than Jaguar vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Genesis fourth in reliability, above the industry average. With 78 more problems per 100 vehicles, Jaguar is ranked 26th.

The GV70’s standard 2.5 turbo 4-cylinder produces 54 more horsepower (300 vs. 246) and 42 lbs.-ft. more torque (311 vs. 269) than the E-Pace’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder. The GV70’s optional 3.5 turbo V6 produces 129 more horsepower (375 vs. 246) and 122 lbs.-ft. more torque (391 vs. 269) than the E-Pace’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder.

As tested in Motor Trend the Genesis GV70 is faster than the Jaguar E-Pace:

On the EPA test cycle the GV70 with its standard engine gets better fuel mileage than the E-Pace P250 (22 city/28 hwy vs. 20 city/26 hwy).

The GV70 has a standard locking fuel door which locks and unlocks with the power locks. The fuel filler door is not lockable on the E-Pace. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank.

The GV70’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The E-Pace doesn’t offer launch control.

For better traction, the GV70 Sport’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the E-Pace (255/40R21 vs. 245/45R20).

The GV70 Sport’s optional tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the E-Pace’s optional 45 series tires.

The GV70 has standard front and rear gas-charged shocks for better control over choppy roads. The E-Pace’s suspension doesn’t offer gas-charged shocks.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the GV70’s wheelbase is 7.6 inches longer than on the E-Pace (113.2 inches vs. 105.6 inches).

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the GV70 is .6 inches wider in the front and 1.4 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the E-Pace.

The GV70’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (52% to 48%) than the E-Pace’s (58.7% to 41.3%). This gives the GV70 more stable handling and braking.

The GV70 Sport Prestige handles at .86 G’s, while the E-Pace SE pulls only .83 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The GV70 Sport Prestige executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 2 seconds quicker than the E-Pace SE (26.4 seconds @ .7 average G’s vs. 28.4 seconds @ .6 average G’s).

As tested by Car and Driver, the interior of the GV70 Advanced is quieter than the E-Pace SE:

The GV70 has 1.2 inches more front headroom, 1.2 inches more front legroom, 3 inches more front shoulder room, .8 inches more rear headroom, 2.9 inches more rear legroom and 1.1 inches more rear shoulder room than the E-Pace.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the GV70’s rear seats recline. The E-Pace’s rear seats don’t recline.

The GV70 has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the E-Pace with its rear seat up (28.9 vs. 22.4 cubic feet). The GV70 has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the E-Pace with its rear seat folded (56.9 vs. 49.5 cubic feet).

The GV70’s cargo area is larger than the E-Pace’s in almost every dimension:

Pulling a handle automatically lowers the GV70’s rear seats, to make changing between passengers and cargo easier. The E-Pace doesn’t offer automatic folding seats.

The engine in the GV70 is mounted longitudinally (North-South), instead of sideways, as in the E-Pace. This makes it easier to service and maintain, because the accessory belts are in front.

Consumer Reports rated the GV70’s headlight performance “Good,” a higher rating than the E-Pace’s headlights, which were rated “Fair.”

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the GV70 has standard extendable sun visors. The E-Pace doesn’t offer extendable visors.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the GV70 to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The E-Pace doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

Standard air-conditioned seats in the GV70 Sport Prestige/3.5T keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in Summer. The E-Pace doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

The GV70 Sport Prestige/3.5T has standard massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the E-Pace.

The GV70 Advanced/Sport/3.5T has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The E-Pace doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The GV70 Sport Advanced/Sport Prestige’s Smart Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Smart Parking Assist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The E-Pace doesn’t offer an automated parking system.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the GV70 third among compact premium suvs in owner reported satisfaction. This includes how well the vehicle performs and satisfies its owner’s expectations. The E-Pace isn’t in the top three in its category.

The GV70 was chosen as a Car and Driver’s “Top Ten” for 2024 and 2023. The E-Pace has never been chosen by Car and Driver in their “10Best” issue.

Motor Trend selected the GV70 as their 2022 Sport Utility of the Year. The E-Pace has never been chosen.

The Genesis GV70 outsold the Jaguar E-Pace by almost 56 to one during 2023.
