For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Porsche Panamera are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Rolls-Royce Ghost doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

A passive infrared night vision system optional on the Panamera helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard and even aims one of the vehicle’s headlights in the direction of the person or object. The Ghost doesn’t offer a night vision system.

Both the Panamera and Ghost have rear cross-traffic warning, but the Panamera has Rear Cross Traffic Alert (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The Ghost’s Cross Traffic Warning doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the Panamera and the Ghost have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, available all wheel drive and around view monitors.

The Panamera’s corrosion warranty is 8 years longer than the Ghost’s (12 vs. 4 years).

There are over 5 times as many Porsche dealers as there are Rolls-Royce dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Panamera’s warranty.

The Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid’s 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid produces 79 more horsepower (670 vs. 591) and 22 lbs.-ft. more torque (686 vs. 664) than the Ghost Black Badge’s optional 6.6 turbo V12.

Regenerative brakes improve the Panamera’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The Ghost doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

In heavy traffic or at stoplights the Panamera’s engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. The engine is automatically restarted when the driver gets ready to move again. If the conditions warrant or the driver wishes, the system can be manually disabled at any time for the duration of a trip. The Ghost doesn’t offer an automatic engine start/stop system.

The Panamera offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The Ghost doesn’t offer an SMG or a conventional manual transmission.

The Panamera’s optional launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The Ghost doesn’t offer launch control.

For better stopping power the Panamera 4S/Turbo CCB’s front brake rotors are larger than those on the Ghost:

The Panamera offers optional heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The Ghost doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

For better traction, the Panamera has larger standard tires than the Ghost (F:265/45R19 & R:295/40R19 vs. 255/50R19). The Panamera’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Ghost (F:275/35R21 & R:325/30R21 vs. F:255/40R21 & R:285/35R21).

The Panamera’s standard 265/45R19 front and 295/40R19 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series front and 40 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Ghost’s standard 50 series tires. The Panamera’s optional 275/35R21 front and 325/30R21 rear tires have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile than the Ghost’s 40 series front and 35 series rear tires.

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Panamera is 1.9 inches wider in the front than on the Ghost.

For better maneuverability, the Panamera’s turning circle is 3.7 feet tighter than the Ghost’s (39 feet vs. 42.7 feet).

The Porsche Panamera may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 250 to 1150 pounds less than the Rolls-Royce Ghost.

The Panamera is 1 foot, 7.4 inches shorter than the Ghost, making the Panamera easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

For excellent aerodynamics, the Panamera has standard flush composite headlights. The Ghost has recessed headlights that spoil its aerodynamic shape and create extra drag.

The Panamera’s available rear seats fold to accommodate long and bulky cargo. The Ghost doesn’t offer folding rear seats.

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Panamera’s liftgate can be opened just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Ghost doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its trunk, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

Standard Trailer Stability Management on the Panamera uses the Porsche Stability Management sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The Ghost doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

The Panamera’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The Ghost does not have an oil pressure gauge.

A power rear sunshade and rear side window sunshades are optional in the Panamera to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The Ghost doesn’t offer a rear sunshade.

The Panamera’s optional Remote ParkAssist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote ParkAssist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The Ghost’s automatic parking system does not offer parking by remote control.

The Panamera is available in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. The Ghost doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
