The Sierra EV has a standard blind spot warning system that uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them and moves the vehicle back into its lane. A system to reveal vehicles in the Tundra’s blind spot costs extra.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the Sierra EV has standard Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Rear Cross Traffic Braking automatically engages the brakes to help avoid a collision. Toyota charges extra for Rear Cross Traffic Alert on the Tundra and its not available on the SR.

The Sierra EV’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Tundra doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the Sierra EV and the Tundra have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, lane departure warning systems and rearview cameras.

The Sierra EV’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the Tundra’s (6 vs. 5 years).

There are over 35 percent more GMC dealers than there are Toyota dealers, which makes it easier should you ever need service under the Sierra EV’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2023 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that GMC vehicles are better in initial quality than Toyota vehicles. J.D. Power ranks GMC above average in initial quality. With 27 more problems per 100 vehicles, Toyota is rated below average.

The Sierra EV’s electric motors produces 365 more horsepower (754 vs. 389) and 306 lbs.-ft. more torque (785 vs. 479) than the Tundra’s optional 3.4 turbo V6. The Sierra EV’s electric motors produces 317 more horsepower (754 vs. 437) and 202 lbs.-ft. more torque (785 vs. 583) than the Tundra’s optional 3.4 turbo V6 hybrid.

The Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 can travel with zero emissions for 440 miles. The Tundra can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the GMC Sierra EV higher (10 out of 10) than the Toyota Tundra (5). This means the Sierra EV produces up to 19.8 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Tundra every 15,000 miles.

When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The Tundra doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

For superior ride and handling, the GMC Sierra EV has fully independent front and rear suspensions. An independent suspension allows the wheels to follow the road at the best angle for gripping the pavement, without compromising ride comfort. The Toyota Tundra has a solid rear axle, with a non-independent rear suspension.

The Sierra EV has standard front and rear stabilizer bars, which help keep the Sierra EV flat and controlled during cornering. The Tundra’s suspension doesn’t offer a rear stabilizer bar.

The Sierra EV has a standard under hood light to help in making nighttime maintenance checks, adding fluids, etc. The Tundra doesn’t offer an under hood light.

The Sierra EV’s standard Keyless Open and Start allow you to unlock the doors from any outside door handle, unlock the tailgate, and start the truck, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Smart Key System standard on the Tundra doesn’t offer a sensor on the rear doors, so you’ll have to reach a front handle to unlock the rear door.

The Sierra EV’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Tundra’s standard manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

The Sierra EV has a standard dual zone air conditioning allows the driver and front passenger to choose two completely different temperatures so people with different temperature preferences won’t have to compromise. This makes both the driver and front passenger as comfortable as possible. Dual zone air conditioning costs extra on the Tundra and isn’t available on the Tundra SR.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the GMC Sierra EV has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the Tundra and isn’t available on the Tundra SR/SR5.

The Sierra EV’s Enhanced Automatic Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. The Tundra doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
