The Sierra EV’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the F-150 Lightning’s (6 vs. 5 years).

The Sierra EV’s electric motors produces 292 more horsepower (754 vs. 462) and 10 lbs.-ft. more torque (785 vs. 775) than the F-150 Lightning’s standard electric motors. The Sierra EV’s electric motors produces 174 more horsepower (754 vs. 580) and 10 lbs.-ft. more torque (785 vs. 775) than the F-150 Lightning’s optional electric motors.

The Sierra EV can travel longer on a full charge than the F-150 Lightning on a full charge:

The Sierra EV’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the F-150 Lightning’s standard 65 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Sierra EV has standard 24-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the F-150 Lightning. The F-150 Lightning’s largest wheels are only 22-inches.

The GMC Sierra EV’s wheels have 8 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The Ford F-150 Lightning only has 6 wheel lugs per wheel.

The Sierra EV has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The F-150 Lightning doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

The front and rear suspension of the Sierra EV uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the F-150 Lightning, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The Sierra EV has a standard driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads. The F-150 Lightning’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

The Sierra EV has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Sierra EV’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The F-150 Lightning doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For better maneuverability, the Sierra EV Denali Edition 1’s turning circle is 5.4 feet tighter than the F-150 Lightning’s (42.4 feet vs. 47.8 feet). The Sierra EV’s turning circle is 3.8 feet tighter than the F-150 Lightning’s (44 feet vs. 47.8 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Sierra EV has a greater minimum ground clearance than the F-150 Lightning (9 vs. 8.4 inches), allowing the Sierra EV to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The front grille of the Sierra EV uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The F-150 Lightning doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The Sierra EV has 3.1 inches more front headroom, 1 inch more front legroom and .7 inches more rear legroom than the F-150 Lightning.

The GMC Sierra EV has a standard EZ Lift-and-Lower Tailgate, which prevents the heavy tailgate from falling with a crash and causing injury. It allows adults and children to easily open and close the tailgate with one hand to better facilitate loading and unloading. The Ford F-150 Lightning doesn’t offer a tailgate assist.

The Sierra EV has a standard heads-up display that projects speed, warning, navigation instruction and driver assistance information readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The F-150 Lightning doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

The Sierra EV’s front and rear power windows all lower with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The F-150 Lightning’s rear power window switches have to be held the entire time to open them fully.

On a hot day the Sierra EV’s driver can lower all the windows from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the F-150 Lightning can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The Sierra EV’s standard Keyless Open and Start allow you to unlock the doors from any outside door handle, unlock the tailgate, and start the truck, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Push Button Start standard on the F-150 Lightning only offers hands-free access for the ignition, none to unlock the truck.

The Sierra EV’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The F-150 Lightning’s standard intermittent wipers change speed with vehicle speed, but can’t turn on and off or change speed based on changing rainfall.

The Sierra EV’s standard outside mirrors include heating elements to clear off the mirrors for better visibility. Ford charges extra for heated mirrors on the F-150 Lightning.

When the Sierra EV is put in reverse, both rearview mirrors tilt from their original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirrors into their original positions. The F-150 Lightning’s mirrors don’t automatically adjust for backing.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the GMC Sierra EV has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Only the F-150 Lightning Lariat/Platinum offers wireless charging.
