To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Mercedes AMG GT. But it costs extra on the Corvette.

The Mercedes AMG GT has Car-to-X Communication, a system that seamlessly communicates important warnings to the driver about impending danger, if they're available. The Corvette doesn’t offer a system that can receive automated systems from infrastructure or other vehicles.

Both the Mercedes AMG GT and the Corvette have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding and daytime running lights.

The AMG GT comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Corvette’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 14,000 miles sooner.

The Mercedes AMG GT’s corrosion warranty is unlimited miles longer than the Corvette’s (unlimited vs. 100,000 miles).

For smoother operation, better efficiency and fewer moving parts, the engines in the Mercedes AMG GT have an overhead cam design, rather than the old pushrod design of some of the engines in the Corvette.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Mercedes AMG GT higher (5 out of 10) than the Chevrolet Corvette (3 to 5). This means the Mercedes AMG GT produces up to 16.5 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Corvette every 15,000 miles.

A nine-speed automatic (SMG) is standard on the Mercedes AMG GT, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only an eight-speed automatic is available for the Corvette.

For better traction, the Mercedes AMG GT has larger front tires than the Corvette (F:295/30R20 & R:305/30R20 vs. F:245/35R19 & R:305/30R20). The Mercedes AMG GT’s front tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Corvette (295/30R20 vs. 275/30R20).

The Mercedes AMG GT’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Corvette’s standard 35 series front tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Mercedes AMG GT has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch front wheels are standard on the Corvette. The Mercedes AMG GT’s optional 21-inch wheels are larger than the 20-inch front wheels and 21-inch rear wheels on the Corvette Z06/E-Ray.

The Mercedes AMG GT offers an available active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Chevrolet doesn’t offer an active suspension on the Corvette.

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Mercedes AMG GT is .7 inches wider in the front and 2.2 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the Corvette.

The Mercedes AMG GT’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (54% to 46%) than the Corvette’s (41.6% to 58.4%). This gives the Mercedes AMG GT more stable handling and braking.

To make loading and unloading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Mercedes AMG GT’s power trunk can be opened or closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Corvette doesn’t offer a power or hands-free opening liftgate.

The Mercedes AMG GT has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the car heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the Corvette.

The Mercedes AMG GT offers optional massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the Corvette.
