Environmental Friendliness
In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Mercedes AMG GT higher (5 out of 10) than the Bugatti Chiron (1). This means the Mercedes AMG GT produces up to 39 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Chiron every 15,000 miles.
Transmission
A nine-speed automatic (SMG) is standard on the Mercedes AMG GT, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a seven-speed automatic is available for the Chiron.
Tires and Wheels
For better traction, the Mercedes AMG GT has larger front tires than the Chiron (295/30R20 vs. 285/30R20).
For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Mercedes AMG GT offers optional 21-inch wheels. The Chiron’s largest wheels are only 20-inches in the front and 21-inches in the rear.
Suspension and Handling
The Mercedes AMG GT offers an available active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Bugatti doesn’t offer an active suspension on the Chiron.
The Mercedes AMG GT’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (54% to 46%) than the Chiron’s (43% to 57%). This gives the Mercedes AMG GT more stable handling and braking.
For better maneuverability, the Mercedes AMG GT’s turning circle is 8.8 feet tighter than the Chiron’s (41 feet vs. 49.8 feet).
Chassis
The front grille of the Mercedes AMG GT uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The Chiron doesn’t offer active grille shutters.
Passenger Space
The Mercedes AMG GT has standard seating for 4 passengers; the Chiron can only carry 2.
Cargo Capacity
The Mercedes AMG GT has a much larger trunk with its rear seat up than the Chiron (11.3 vs. 2 cubic feet).
To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Mercedes AMG GT’s trunk can be opened and closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Chiron doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its trunk, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.
Ergonomics
The Mercedes AMG GT offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Chiron doesn’t offer a heads-up display.
On extremely cold winter days, the Mercedes AMG GT’s standard heated steering wheel provides comfort, allowing the driver to steer safely and comfortably before the car heater warms up. The Chiron doesn’t offer a heated steering wheel.
The Mercedes AMG GT offers optional massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the Chiron.
Standard smartphone integration for the Mercedes AMG GT allows the driver and passengers access to select programs on their smartphones, including reading text messages aloud, playing internet radio stations and other connected activities without taking their eyes off the road or their hands from the wheel. The Chiron doesn’t offer factory integrated smartphone program access.
