The Mercedes AMG GT has all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The DBS doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.

The Mercedes AMG GT has Car-to-X Communication, a system that seamlessly communicates important warnings to the driver about impending danger, if they're available. The DBS doesn’t offer a system that can receive automated systems from infrastructure or other vehicles.

Both the Mercedes AMG GT and the DBS have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding and daytime running lights.

The AMG GT comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The DBS’ 3-year basic warranty expires 1 year sooner.

There are almost 11 times as many Mercedes dealers as there are Aston Martin dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the AMG GT’s warranty.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Mercedes AMG GT higher (5 out of 10) than the Aston Martin DBS (3). This means the Mercedes AMG GT produces up to 16.5 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the DBS every 15,000 miles.

A nine-speed automatic (SMG) is standard on the Mercedes AMG GT, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only an eight-speed automatic is available for the DBS.

The Mercedes AMG GT offers a standard sequential manual gearbox (SMG). With no clutch pedal to worry about and a fully automatic mode, an SMG is much more efficient than a conventional automatic but just as easy to drive. The DBS doesn’t offer an SMG or a conventional manual transmission.

All wheel drive, available in the Mercedes AMG GT, provides the best traction for acceleration in wet, dry, and icy conditions. In corners, all wheel drive allows both outside wheels to provide power, balancing the car. This allows for better handling. The Aston Martin DBS is not available with all wheel drive.

The Mercedes AMG GT’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The DBS doesn’t offer launch control.

The Mercedes AMG GT stops shorter than the DBS:

For better traction, the Mercedes AMG GT has larger front tires than the DBS (F:295/30R20 & R:305/30R20 vs. F:265/35R21 & R:305/30R21).

The Mercedes AMG GT’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the DBS’ standard 35 series front tires.

The Mercedes AMG GT offers an available active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Aston Martin doesn’t offer an active suspension on the DBS.

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Mercedes AMG GT is .7 inches wider in the front and 1.6 inches wider in the rear than on the DBS.

The Mercedes AMG GT 63 handles at 1.05 G’s, while the DBS Superleggera Coupe pulls only 1.02 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The front grille of the Mercedes AMG GT uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The DBS doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The Mercedes AMG GT has a much larger trunk with its rear seat up than the DBS Coupe (11.3 vs. 9.5 cubic feet).

The Mercedes AMG GT’s standard rear seats fold to accommodate long and bulky cargo. The DBS doesn’t offer folding rear seats.

To make loading and unloading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Mercedes AMG GT’s power trunk can be opened or closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The DBS doesn’t offer a power or hands-free opening trunk.

The Mercedes AMG GT offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The DBS doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

The Mercedes AMG GT has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the car heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the DBS.

The Mercedes AMG GT offers optional massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the DBS.
