For enhanced safety, the front and rear seat shoulder belts of the Land Rover Range Rover Sport have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers. The GMC Hummer EV SUV doesn’t offer pretensioners for its rear seat belts.

The Range Rover Sport’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Hummer EV SUV doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

The Range Rover Sport has standard head airbag curtains for front and rear seats which act as a forgiving barrier between the driver and outboard passenger's upper bodies and the window and pillars. Combined with high-strength steel door beams and lower side airbags this system increases head protection in broadside collisions. The Hummer EV SUV doesn't offer side airbag protection for the head and are only available for the front seats.

Both the Range Rover Sport and Hummer EV SUV have rear cross-traffic warning, but the Range Rover Sport has Rear Traffic Braking (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The Hummer EV SUV’s Rear Cross Traffic Alert doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the Range Rover Sport and the Hummer EV SUV have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

Warranty

The Range Rover Sport comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Hummer EV SUV’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 14,000 miles sooner.

The Range Rover Sport’s 6 year corrosion warranty has no mileage limitations, but the corrosion warranty on the Hummer EV SUV runs out after 100,000 miles.

Fuel Economy and Range

On the EPA test cycle the Range Rover Sport P550e running on electricity gets better mileage than the Hummer EV SUV w/Mud Tires (48 city/55 hwy vs. 55 city/45 hwy MPGe).

The Range Rover Sport P550e’s maximum EPA estimated range on a full tank and a full charge is 505 miles, after which it can be refueled at any gas station in minutes. The Hummer EV SUV’s range is only 298 to 314 miles, after which

The Range Rover Sport P440e has a standard locking fuel door with a power remote release convenient to the driver. The Hummer EV SUV doesn’t have a locking charge port. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank and a locking charge port prevents tampering and damage.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the Range Rover Sport’s front brake rotors are larger than those on the Hummer EV SUV:

The Range Rover Sport SV offers optional heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The Hummer EV SUV doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

Tires and Wheels

The Range Rover Sport’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Hummer EV SUV’s 70 series tires. The Range Rover Sport SV’s 285/40R23 front and 305/35R23 rear tires have a lower 40 series front and 35 series rear profile than the Hummer EV SUV’s 55 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Range Rover Sport has standard 21-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the Hummer EV SUV. The Range Rover Sport’s optional 23-inch wheels are larger than the 22-inch wheels on the Hummer EV SUV.

Suspension and Handling

The Range Rover Sport Autobiography/First Edition has active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The Hummer EV SUV doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

The front and rear suspension of the Range Rover Sport uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the Hummer EV SUV, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The Range Rover Sport Autobiography/First Edition offers an available adjustable active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. GMC doesn’t offer an active suspension on the Hummer EV SUV.

The Range Rover Sport SE handles at .81 G’s, while the Hummer EV SUV pulls only .76 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

Chassis

The Range Rover Sport is 12 inches shorter than the Hummer EV SUV, making the Range Rover Sport easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Range Rover Sport is 5.9 inches narrower than the Hummer EV SUV, making the Range Rover Sport easier to handle and maneuver in traffic.

The Range Rover Sport uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Hummer EV SUV doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

Cargo Capacity

The Range Rover Sport’s liftgate lifts up in one piece, completely out of the way of loading and unloading, while sheltering the cargo loading area. The Hummer EV SUV’s swing out door blocks loading from the passenger’s side.

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Range Rover Sport’s available liftgate can be opened and closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Hummer EV SUV doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its cargo door, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

Towing

The Range Rover Sport’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Hummer EV SUV’s (7716 vs. 6000 pounds).

Ergonomics

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the Hummer EV SUV, the Range Rover Sport has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The Range Rover Sport offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed and navigation instruction readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Hummer EV SUV doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

The Range Rover Sport’s front and rear power windows all open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The Hummer EV SUV’s power windows’ switches have to be held the entire time to close them fully.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are optional on the Range Rover Sport to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Hummer EV SUV doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Range Rover Sport has a standard rear wiper. The Hummer EV SUV doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Range Rover Sport has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The Hummer EV SUV doesn’t offer headlight washers.

To help drivers see further while navigating curves, the Range Rover Sport offers optional adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle. The Hummer EV SUV doesn’t offer cornering lights.

To better shield the driver and front passenger’s vision, the Range Rover Sport offers optional dual-element sun visors that can block glare from two directions simultaneously. The Hummer EV SUV doesn’t offer secondary sun visors.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the Range Rover Sport to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The Hummer EV SUV doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

The Range Rover Sport has standard front air conditioned seats and offers them optionally in the rear. This keeps the passengers comfortable and takes the sting out of hot seats in summer. The Hummer EV SUV doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats in the rear.

The Range Rover Sport Autobiography/SV has standard massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the Hummer EV SUV.
