Both the Hummer EV Pickup and Ram 1500 have child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors. The Hummer EV Pickup has power child safety locks, allowing the driver to activate and deactivate them from the driver's seat and to know when they're engaged. The Ram 1500’s child locks have to be individually engaged at each rear door with a manual switch. The driver can’t know the status of the locks without opening the doors and checking them.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, Full-Time Four-Wheel Drive is standard on the Hummer EV Pickup. But it costs extra on the Ram 1500.

The Hummer EV Pickup’s standard lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane and gently nudges the vehicle back towards its lane. A lane departure warning system costs extra on the Ram 1500.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the Hummer EV Pickup has standard Rear Cross Traffic Alert, helping the driver avoid collisions. Ram charges extra for Rear Cross Path Detection on the Ram 1500.

The Hummer EV Pickup’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Ram 1500 doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the Hummer EV Pickup and the Ram 1500 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and rearview cameras.

The GMC Hummer EV Pickup weighs 3579 to 4207 pounds more than the Ram 1500. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

Warranty

The Hummer EV Pickup’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the Ram 1500’s (6 vs. 5 years).

Reliability

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that GMC vehicles are more reliable than Ram With 74 fewer problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, J.D. Power ranks GMC higher than Ram.

Engine

The Hummer EV Pickup’s standard electric motors produces 525 more horsepower (830 vs. 305) and 929 lbs.-ft. more torque (1200 vs. 271) than the Ram 1500’s standard 3.6 DOHC V6 hybrid. The Hummer EV Pickup’s electric motors produces 435 more horsepower (830 vs. 395) and 790 lbs.-ft. more torque (1200 vs. 410) than the Ram 1500’s optional 5.7 V8 hybrid. The Hummer EV Pickup’s optional electric motors produces 605 more horsepower (1000 vs. 395) and 11090 lbs.-ft. more torque (11500 vs. 410) than the Ram 1500’s optional 5.7 V8 hybrid.

As tested in Motor Trend the GMC Hummer EV Pickup (1000 HP engine) is faster than the Ram 1500 V8 hybrid gas:

On the EPA test cycle the Hummer EV Pickup gets better mileage than the Ram 1500:

The Hummer EV Pickup can travel with zero emissions for 298 to 314 miles (dependent on model). The Ram 1500 can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

Regardless of its engine, regenerative brakes improve the Hummer EV Pickup’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. Ram only offers a regenerative brake system on the Ram 1500 eTORQUE.

Environmental Friendliness

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the GMC Hummer EV Pickup higher (10 out of 10) than the Ram 1500 (5 to 7). This means the Hummer EV Pickup produces up to 19.8 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Ram 1500 every 15,000 miles.

Transmission

The Hummer EV Pickup’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The Ram 1500 doesn’t offer launch control.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Hummer EV Pickup has larger tires than the Ram 1500 (305/70R18 vs. 275/65R18). The Hummer EV Pickup 2X/3X’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Ram 1500 (305/70R18 vs. 285/45R22).

The GMC Hummer EV Pickup’s wheels have 8 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The Ram 1500 only has 6 wheel lugs per wheel.

Suspension and Handling

For superior ride and handling, the GMC Hummer EV Pickup has fully independent front and rear suspensions. An independent suspension allows the wheels to follow the road at the best angle for gripping the pavement, without compromising ride comfort. The Ram 1500 has a solid rear axle, with a non-independent rear suspension.

The Hummer EV Pickup offers an available driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads. The Ram 1500’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Hummer EV Pickup is 4.8 inches wider in the front and 5.2 inches wider in the rear than on the Ram 1500.

The Hummer EV Pickup’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (50% to 50%) than the Ram 1500’s (56.2% to 43.8%). This gives the Hummer EV Pickup more stable handling and braking.

The Hummer EV Pickup 3X handles at .72 G’s, while the Ram 1500 short bed Rebel Crew Cab 4x4 pulls only .68 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The Hummer EV Pickup 3X executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1.7 seconds quicker than the Ram 1500 short bed Rebel Crew Cab 4x4 (28.1 seconds @ .65 average G’s vs. 29.8 seconds @ .57 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the Hummer EV Pickup 2’s turning circle is 1.9 feet tighter than the Ram 1500 short bed Crew Cab’s (44.3 feet vs. 46.2 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Hummer EV Pickup 2 has a 1.5 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the Ram 1500 standard bed Crew Cab (10.1 vs. 8.6 inches), allowing the Hummer EV Pickup to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The Hummer EV Pickup 2X/3X’s minimum ground clearance is 5.1 inches higher than on the Ram 1500 short bed Crew Cab w/Air Suspension (15.9 vs. 10.8 inches).

Chassis

The Hummer EV Pickup is 1 foot, 4.1 inches shorter than the Ram 1500 short bed Crew Cab, making the Hummer EV Pickup easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

Cargo Capacity

The GMC Hummer EV Pickup has a standard EZ Lift Tailgate, which prevents the heavy tailgate from falling with a crash and causing injury. It allows adults and children to easily open and close the tailgate with one hand to better facilitate loading and unloading. Tailgate assist costs extra on the Ram 1500.

The GMC Hummer EV Pickup has a standard tailgate assist feature, which folds out and allows for much easier access to the cargo area. A rear cargo step costs extra on the Ram 1500.

Towing

The Hummer EV Pickup’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Ram 1500’s (7500 vs. 6120 pounds).

While the Ram 1500 standard bed Quad Cab HFE can only tow 6760, any Hummer EV Pickup can tow a minimum of 7500 pounds.

Ergonomics

The Hummer EV Pickup’s standard easy entry system glides the driver’s seat back, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The Ram 1500 doesn’t offer an easy entry system.

The Hummer EV Pickup’s front and rear power windows all lower with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The Ram 1500’s rear power window switches have to be held the entire time to open them fully.

On a hot day the Hummer EV Pickup’s driver can lower all the windows from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the Ram 1500 can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The Hummer EV Pickup’s standard Keyless Open and Start allow you to unlock the doors from any outside door handle, unlock the tailgate, and start the truck, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Keyless Go standard on the Ram 1500 only offers hands-free access for the ignition, none to unlock the truck.

The Hummer EV Pickup’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Ram 1500’s standard intermittent wipers change speed with vehicle speed, but can’t turn on and off or change speed based on changing rainfall.

The Hummer EV Pickup’s LED headlights produce a whiter, brighter light (up to 3x) using five times less power than the Ram 1500’s standard halogen headlights. LED lights also light instantly and last over twenty times longer than halogen.

The Hummer EV Pickup has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the Ram 1500.

The Hummer EV Pickup has a standard dual zone air conditioning allows the driver and front passenger to choose two completely different temperatures so people with different temperature preferences won’t have to compromise. This makes both the driver and front passenger as comfortable as possible. Dual zone air conditioning costs extra on the Ram 1500 and isn’t available on the Ram 1500 Tradesman/HFE.

The Hummer EV Pickup’s standard automatic temperature control maintains the temperature you set, automatically controlling fan speed, vents and temperature to maintain a consistent, comfortable environment. The Ram 1500 Tradesman/HFE doesn’t offer automatic air conditioning.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the GMC Hummer EV Pickup has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the Ram 1500 and isn’t available on the Ram 1500 Tradesman/HFE/Rebel/Big Horn/Lone Star.

The Hummer EV Pickup’s Enhanced Automatic Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. The Ram 1500 Laramie/Longhorn/Limited’s automatic parking system requires operating the brakes and transmission to safely park.
