Compare the2024 Acura ZDXVS 2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV

For enhanced safety, the front and rear seat shoulder belts of the Acura ZDX have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers. The GMC Hummer EV SUV doesn’t offer pretensioners for its rear seat belts.

The Acura ZDX has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Hummer EV SUV doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The ZDX has standard head airbag curtains for front and rear seats which act as a forgiving barrier between the driver and outboard passenger's upper bodies and the window and pillars. Combined with high-strength steel door beams and lower side airbags this system increases head protection in broadside collisions. The Hummer EV SUV doesn't offer side airbag protection for the head and are only available for the front seats.

Both the ZDX and Hummer EV SUV have Rear Cross Traffic Alert, but the ZDX has Rear Cross Traffic Braking (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The Hummer EV SUV’s Rear Cross Traffic Alert doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the ZDX and the Hummer EV SUV have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available around view monitors.

The ZDX comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Hummer EV SUV’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 14,000 miles sooner.

The ZDX’s corrosion warranty is unlimited miles longer than the Hummer EV SUV’s (unlimited vs. 100,000 miles).

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2024 Auto Issue reports that Acura vehicles are more reliable than GMC vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Acura fourth in overall reliability. GMC is ranked 24th.

The ZDX A-Spec’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Hummer EV SUV’s 70 series tires. The ZDX Type S’ tires have a lower 40 series profile than the Hummer EV SUV’s 55 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the ZDX A-Spec has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the Hummer EV SUV.

The ZDX has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The Hummer EV SUV doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires standard on the ZDX can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The Hummer EV SUV doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.

The ZDX is 9 inches shorter than the Hummer EV SUV, making the ZDX easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The ZDX is 9.5 inches narrower than the Hummer EV SUV, making the ZDX easier to handle and maneuver in traffic.

The ZDX is 13.4 inches shorter in height than the Hummer EV SUV, making the ZDX much easier to wash and garage and drive (lower center of gravity).

The ZDX has 5.6 inches more front hip room, .4 inches more rear legroom and 6.1 inches more rear hip room than the Hummer EV SUV.

The ZDX’s liftgate lifts up in one piece, completely out of the way of loading and unloading, while sheltering the cargo loading area. The Hummer EV SUV’s swing out door blocks loading from the passenger’s side.

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the ZDX Type S’ liftgate can be opened and closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Hummer EV SUV doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its cargo door, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Acura service is better than GMC. J.D. Power ranks Acura 6th in service department satisfaction (above the industry average). With a 18% lower rating, GMC is ranked 15th.

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the Hummer EV SUV, the ZDX Type S has a passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The ZDX Type S has a standard heads-up display that projects speed, warning, navigation instruction, infotainment and driver assistance information readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Hummer EV SUV doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

The ZDX’s front and rear power windows all open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The Hummer EV SUV’s power windows’ switches have to be held the entire time to close them fully.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the ZDX has a standard rear wiper. The Hummer EV SUV doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the ZDX to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The Hummer EV SUV doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

The ZDX is available in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The Hummer EV SUV doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
