Full-time four-wheel drive is standard on the Charger. Full-time four-wheel drive gives added traction for safety in all conditions, not just off-road, like the only system available on the CLE.

The Charger’s standard lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane. A lane departure warning system costs extra on the CLE.

The Charger offers optional Uconnect 9-1-1, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to help track down your vehicle if it’s stolen or send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The CLE doesn’t offer a GPS response system, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the Charger and the CLE have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and driver alert monitors.

The Dodge Charger weighs 1238 to 1438 pounds more than the Mercedes CLE. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

Dodge’s powertrain warranty covers the Charger 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Mercedes covers the CLE. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Coverage on the CLE ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

There are over 6 times as many Dodge dealers as there are Mercedes dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Charger’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2023 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Dodge vehicles are better in initial quality than Mercedes vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Dodge first in initial quality, above the industry average. With 61 more problems per 100 vehicles, Mercedes is ranked 23rd, below the industry average.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Dodge vehicles are more reliable than Mercedes vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Dodge above average in long-term dependability. With 26 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, Mercedes is rated below average.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2024 Auto Issue reports that Dodge vehicles are more reliable than Mercedes vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Dodge 8 places higher in reliability than Mercedes.

The Charger Daytona R/T Coupe’s standard electric motors produces 241 more horsepower (496 vs. 255) and 109 lbs.-ft. more torque (404 vs. 295) than the CLE 300’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid. The Charger Daytona R/T Coupe’s electric motors produces 121 more horsepower (496 vs. 375) and 35 lbs.-ft. more torque (404 vs. 369) than the CLE 450’s standard 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder hybrid. The Charger Daytona Scat Pack Coupe’s standard electric motors produces 295 more horsepower (670 vs. 375) and 258 lbs.-ft. more torque (627 vs. 369) than the CLE 450’s standard 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder hybrid.

The Charger can travel with zero emissions for 260 to 317 miles (dependent on model). The CLE can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Dodge Charger higher (10 out of 10) than the Mercedes CLE (7 to 8). This means the Charger produces up to 11.8 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the CLE every 15,000 miles.

The Charger Scat Pack’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The CLE doesn’t offer launch control.
