The Charger has all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The Cooper SE doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.

The Charger offers an optional 360° Surround View Camera to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The Cooper SE only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

Both the Charger and the Cooper SE have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras and driver alert monitors.

The Dodge Charger weighs 2695 pounds more than the MINI Cooper SE. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts. Crosswinds also affect lighter cars more.

Dodge’s powertrain warranty covers the Charger 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than MINI covers the Cooper SE. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Coverage on the Cooper SE ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

There are over 23 times as many Dodge dealers as there are MINI dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Charger’s warranty.

Power ranks Dodge first in initial quality, above the industry average. With 39 more problems per 100 vehicles, MINI is ranked 12th.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Dodge vehicles are more reliable than MINI vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Dodge above average in long-term dependability. With 26 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, MINI is rated lower.

The Charger Daytona R/T Coupe’s standard electric motors produces 315 more horsepower (496 vs. 181) and 205 lbs.-ft. more torque (404 vs. 199) than the Cooper SE’s electric motor. The Charger Daytona Scat Pack Coupe’s standard electric motors produces 489 more horsepower (670 vs. 181) and 428 lbs.-ft. more torque (627 vs. 199) than the Cooper SE’s electric motor.

The Charger can travel longer on a full charge than the Cooper SE on a full charge:

All wheel drive, available in the Charger, provides the best traction for acceleration in wet, dry, and icy conditions. In corners, all wheel drive allows both outside wheels to provide power, balancing the car. This allows for better handling. The MINI Cooper SE is not available with all wheel drive.

The Charger Scat Pack’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The Cooper SE doesn’t offer launch control.
