To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Charger. But it costs extra on the 4 Series Coupe.

Both the Charger and the 4 Series Coupe have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The Dodge Charger weighs 1861 to 2260 pounds more than the BMW 4 Series Coupe. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

Dodge’s powertrain warranty covers the Charger 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than BMW covers the 4 Series Coupe. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Coverage on the 4 Series Coupe ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

There are almost 7 times as many Dodge dealers as there are BMW dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Charger’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2023 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Dodge vehicles are better in initial quality than BMW vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Dodge first in initial quality, above the industry average. With 52 more problems per 100 vehicles, BMW is ranked 20th.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Dodge vehicles are more reliable than BMW vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Dodge above average in long-term dependability. With 26 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, BMW is rated lower.

The Charger Daytona R/T Coupe’s standard electric motors produces 241 more horsepower (496 vs. 255) and 109 lbs.-ft. more torque (404 vs. 295) than the 430i Coupe’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder. The Charger Daytona R/T Coupe’s electric motors produces 114 more horsepower (496 vs. 382) and 35 lbs.-ft. more torque (404 vs. 369) than the M440i Coupe’s standard 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder hybrid. The Charger Daytona Scat Pack Coupe’s standard electric motors produces 288 more horsepower (670 vs. 382) and 258 lbs.-ft. more torque (627 vs. 369) than the M440i Coupe’s standard 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder hybrid.

The Charger can travel with zero emissions for 260 to 317 miles (dependent on model). The 4 Series Coupe can’t move without running its internal combustion engine.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Dodge Charger higher (10 out of 10) than the BMW 4 Series Coupe (5 to 7). This means the Charger produces up to 19.8 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the 4 Series Coupe every 15,000 miles.

For better traction, the Charger has larger standard tires than the 4 Series Coupe (245/55R18 vs. 225/45R18). The Charger Daytona Scat Pack Coupe’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the 4 Series Coupe (F:305/35R20 & R:325/35R20 vs. F:225/40R19 & R:255/35R19).

The Charger Daytona Scat Pack Coupe’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the 4 Series Coupe’s optional 40 series front tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Charger offers optional 20-inch wheels. The 4 Series Coupe’s largest wheels are only 19-inches.

The Charger has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the car heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the 4 Series Coupe.
