To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Macan Electric. But it costs extra on the Polestar 4.

The Macan Electric has standard Porsche Connect, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to remotely unlock your doors if you lock your keys in, help track down your vehicle if it’s stolen or send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The Polestar 4 doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the Macan Electric and the Polestar 4 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available around view monitors.

There are over 6 times as many Porsche dealers as there are Polestar dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Macan Electric’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2023 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Porsche vehicles are better in initial quality than Polestar vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Porsche above average in initial quality. With 146 more problems per 100 vehicles, Polestar is rated below average.

The Macan 4 Electric’s standard electric motors produces 130 more horsepower (402 vs. 272) and 226 lbs.-ft. more torque (479 vs. 253) than the Polestar 4’s standard electric motor. The Macan Electric Turbo’s standard electric motors produces 86 more horsepower (630 vs. 544) and 327 lbs.-ft. more torque (833 vs. 506) than the Polestar 4’s optional electric motors.

For better traction and acceleration, the Macan Electric has larger standard rear tires than the Polestar 4 (285/45R20 vs. 255/50R20). The Macan Electric’s optional rear tires are larger than the largest rear tires available on the Polestar 4 (295/40R21 vs. 265/40R22).

The Macan Electric’s standard 285/45R20 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Polestar 4’s standard 50 series tires. The Macan Electric’s optional 295/35R22 rear tires have a lower 35 series profile than the Polestar 4 Performance Pack’s 40 series tires.

The front and rear suspension of the Macan Electric uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the Polestar 4, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The Macan Electric has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Macan Electric’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The Polestar 4 doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For greater off-road capability the Macan Electric has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Polestar 4 (7.2 vs. 6.5 inches), allowing the Macan Electric to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The front grille of the Macan Electric uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The Polestar 4 doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The Macan Electric has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the Polestar 4 with its rear seat up (22.9 vs. 18.6 cubic feet). The Macan Electric has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Polestar 4 with its rear seat folded (59.5 vs. 54.2 cubic feet).

The Macan Electric’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Polestar 4’s (4409 vs. 0 pounds).

Standard Trailer Stability Management on the Macan Electric uses the Porsche Stability Management sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The Polestar 4 doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

Unlike the driver-only memory seat and mirrors in the Polestar 4, the Macan Electric offers an optional driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the Macan Electric to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The Polestar 4 doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

The Macan Electric’s power mirror controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The Polestar 4’s power mirror controls are embedded in the infotainment system, seriously distracting drivers who have to adjust them while driving.

The Macan Electric has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the Polestar 4.

The Macan Electric’s standard GPS navigation system has a real-time traffic update feature that plots alternative routes to automatically bypass traffic problems. (Service not available in all areas.) The Polestar 4’s navigation system doesn’t offer real-time traffic updates.
