For enhanced safety, the front and rear seat shoulder belts of the Porsche Macan Electric have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers. The Alfa Romeo Tonale doesn’t offer pretensioners for its rear seat belts.

The Porsche Macan Electric has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Tonale doesn’t offer a front passenger side knee airbag.

Both the Macan Electric and Tonale have rear cross-traffic warning, but the Macan Electric has Rear Cross Traffic Alert (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The Tonale’s Rear Cross-Path Detection doesn’t automatically brake.

The Macan 4 Electric’s standard electric motors produces 117 more horsepower (402 vs. 285) and 129 lbs.-ft. more torque (479 vs. 350) than the Tonale’s 1.3 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid. The Macan Electric Turbo’s standard electric motors produces 345 more horsepower (630 vs. 285) and 483 lbs.-ft. more torque (833 vs. 350) than the Tonale’s 1.3 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Porsche Macan Electric higher (10 out of 10) than the Alfa Romeo Tonale (6). This means the Macan Electric produces up to 12.9 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Tonale every 15,000 miles.

The Macan Electric’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The Tonale doesn’t offer launch control.

The Macan Electric Turbo’s optional front and rear disc brakes are vented to help dissipate heat for shorter stops with less fading. The rear discs on the Tonale are solid, not vented.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Macan Electric’s wheelbase is 10.1 inches longer than on the Tonale (113.9 inches vs. 103.8 inches).

For greater off-road capability the Macan Electric has a 1.6 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the Tonale (7.2 vs. 5.6 inches), allowing the Macan Electric to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The front grille of the Macan Electric uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The Tonale doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

Unlike the driver-only memory system optional in the Tonale, the Macan Electric offers an optional driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The Macan Electric offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed, navigation instruction and driver assistance information readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Tonale doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

The Macan Electric’s standard Comfort Access allow you to unlock the doors from any outside door handle, open the cargo door, and start the vehicle, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Keyless-Enter-n-Go standard on the Tonale doesn’t offer a sensor on the rear doors, so you’ll have to reach a front handle to unlock the rear door.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the Macan Electric to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The Tonale doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

When the Macan Electric with available tilt-down mirrors is put in reverse, the passenger rearview mirror tilts from its original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirror into its original position. The Tonale’s mirror doesn’t automatically adjust for backing.
