Compare the2024 Nissan GT-RVS 2025 McLaren Artura

2024 Nissan GT-R
2025 McLaren Artura

Safety

The GT-R has all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The Artura doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.

The GT-R has standard NissanConnect Services, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The Artura doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the GT-R and the Artura have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and rearview cameras.

The Nissan GT-R weighs 428 to 632 pounds more than the McLaren Artura. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

Warranty

There are almost 42 times as many Nissan dealers as there are McLaren dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the GT-R’s warranty.

Reliability

The Artura’s redline is at 8500 RPM, which causes more engine wear, and a greater chance of a catastrophic engine failure. The GT-R has a 7100 RPM redline.

Fuel Economy and Range

The GT-R has 2.4 gallons more fuel capacity than the Artura (19.5 vs. 17.1 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

Drivetrain

All wheel drive, available in the GT-R, provides the best traction for acceleration in wet, dry, and icy conditions. In corners, all wheel drive allows both outside wheels to provide power, balancing the car. This allows for better handling. The McLaren Artura is not available with all wheel drive.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the GT-R NISMO/T-Spec’s brake rotors are larger than those on the Artura:

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the GT-R has larger front tires than the Artura (255/40R20 vs. 235/35R19).

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the GT-R has standard 20-inch wheels. Only 19-inch front wheels are available on the Artura.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires standard on the GT-R can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The Artura doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

Suspension and Handling

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the GT-R’s wheelbase is 5.5 inches longer than on the Artura (109.4 inches vs. 103.9 inches).

The GT-R’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (54.7% to 45.3%) than the Artura’s (41.9% to 58.1%). This gives the GT-R more stable handling and braking.

For better maneuverability, the GT-R’s turning circle is 2.7 feet tighter than the Artura’s (36.6 feet vs. 39.3 feet). The GT-R NISMO’s turning circle is 1.9 feet tighter than the Artura’s (37.4 feet vs. 39.3 feet).

Chassis

The GT-R uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Artura doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

Passenger Space

The GT-R has standard seating for 4 passengers; the Artura can only carry 2.

Cargo Capacity

The GT-R has a much larger trunk than the Artura Coupe (8.8 vs. 5.3 cubic feet).

A standard locking glovebox (which can’t be accessed with the valet key) keeps your small valuables safer in the GT-R. The Artura doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.

Ergonomics

The GT-R’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The Artura does not have an oil pressure gauge.

The GT-R’s standard power windows have a locking feature to keep children from operating them. McLaren does not offer a locking feature on the Artura’s standard power windows.

The GT-R’s standard Intelligent Key allows you to unlock the doors from either outside door handle, open the trunk, and start the engine, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Keyless Entry and Lock standard on the Artura doesn’t offer a sensor on the trunk.

The GT-R’s sun-visors swivel front-to-side to block glare from the side windows. The Artura’s visors are fixed into the windshield header.

To help keep the driver’s hands on the wheel, the GT-R has standard steering wheel controls for the radio. The Artura doesn’t offer steering wheel audio controls.
