Safety

The GT-R has standard NissanConnect Services, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The Chiron doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the GT-R and the Chiron have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and rearview cameras.

Warranty

There are over 98 times as many Nissan dealers as there are Bugatti dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the GT-R’s warranty.

Fuel Economy and Range

On the EPA test cycle the GT-R gets better mileage than the Chiron:

Environmental Friendliness

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Nissan GT-R higher (3 out of 10) than the Bugatti Chiron (1). This means the GT-R produces up to 22.5 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Chiron every 15,000 miles.

Tires and Wheels

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires standard on the GT-R can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The Chiron doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

Suspension and Handling

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the GT-R’s wheelbase is 2.7 inches longer than on the Chiron (109.4 inches vs. 106.7 inches).

The GT-R’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (54.7% to 45.3%) than the Chiron’s (43% to 57%). This gives the GT-R more stable handling and braking.

For better maneuverability, the GT-R’s turning circle is 13.2 feet tighter than the Chiron’s (36.6 feet vs. 49.8 feet). The GT-R NISMO’s turning circle is 12.4 feet tighter than the Chiron’s (37.4 feet vs. 49.8 feet).

Chassis

The Nissan GT-R may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 350 to 450 pounds less than the Bugatti Chiron.

The GT-R is 5.6 inches narrower than the Chiron, making the GT-R easier to handle and maneuver in traffic.

The design of the Nissan GT-R amounts to more than styling. The GT-R has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .26 Cd. That is significantly lower than the Chiron (.39). A more efficient exterior helps the GT-R go faster and keeps the interior quieter. It also helps the GT-R get better fuel mileage.

The GT-R uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Chiron doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

Passenger Space

The GT-R has standard seating for 4 passengers; the Chiron can only carry 2.

The GT-R has 25 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Chiron (79 vs. 54).

Cargo Capacity

The GT-R has a much larger trunk than the Chiron (8.8 vs. 2 cubic feet).

Ergonomics

The GT-R’s speed-sensitive wipers speed up when the vehicle does, so that the driver doesn’t have to continually adjust the speed of the wipers. The Chiron’s

The GT-R’s standard dual zone air conditioning allows the driver and front passenger to choose two completely different temperatures so people with different temperature preferences won’t have to compromise. This makes both the driver and front passenger as comfortable as possible. The Chiron doesn’t offer dual zone air conditioning.

The GT-R’s standard steering wheel mounted cruise control is close at hand. The Chiron’s standard cruise control is on an over-crowded turn signal stalk.

Standard smartphone integration for the GT-R allows the driver and passengers access to select programs on their smartphones, including reading text messages aloud, playing internet radio stations and other connected activities without taking their eyes off the road or their hands from the wheel. The Chiron doesn’t offer factory integrated smartphone program access.
