13.8 inches |
13.6 inches |

Tires and Wheels
For better traction, the AMG GLA’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the XC40 (255/35R21 vs. 245/45R20).
The AMG GLA’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 50 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the XC40’s standard 55 series tires. The AMG GLA’s optional tires have a lower 35 series profile than the XC40’s optional 45 series tires.
For better ride, handling and brake cooling the AMG GLA has standard 19-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the XC40. The AMG GLA’s optional 21-inch wheels are larger than the 20-inch wheels optional on the XC40.
Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires available on the AMG GLA can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The XC40 doesn’t offer run-flat tires.
Suspension and Handling

Ergonomics
Unlike the driver-only memory system in the XC40, the AMG GLA has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.
The AMG GLA’s standard easy entry and exit feature glides the driver’s seat back, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The XC40 doesn’t offer an easy entry system.
The AMG GLA offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed, tachometer and navigation instruction readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The XC40 doesn’t offer a heads-up display.
The AMG GLA’s standard Keyless-Go allow you to unlock the doors from any outside door handle, open the cargo door, and start the engine, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse.
