The I-Pace’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Q8 e-tron doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the I-Pace and the Q8 e-tron have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras and rear cross-path warning.

The I-Pace comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Q8 e-tron’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Jaguar pays for scheduled maintenance on the I-Pace for 5 years and 60,000 miles. Jaguar will pay for tire rotations, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Audi only pays for the first scheduled maintenance visit on the Q8 e-tron.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2023 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Jaguar vehicles are better in initial quality than Audi vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Jaguar above average in initial quality. With 36 more problems per 100 vehicles, Audi is rated below average.

The I-Pace’s electric motors produces 22 lbs.-ft. more torque (512 vs. 490) than the Q8 e-tron’s standard electric motors.

The I-Pace’s optional tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Q8 e-tron’s optional 45 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the I-Pace offers optional 22-inch wheels. The Q8 e-tron’s largest wheels are only 21-inches.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the I-Pace’s wheelbase is 2.6 inches longer than on the Q8 e-tron (117.7 inches vs. 115.1 inches).

The I-Pace HSE handles at .90 G’s, while the Q8 e-tron 55 Launch Edition pulls only .85 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The I-Pace HSE executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1.8 seconds quicker than the Q8 e-tron 55 Launch Edition (24.8 seconds @ .77 average G’s vs. 26.6 seconds @ .71 average G’s).

The Jaguar I-Pace may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 1000 to 1300 pounds less than the Audi Q8 e-tron.

The I-Pace is 8.7 inches shorter than the Q8 e-tron, making the I-Pace easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The design of the Jaguar I-Pace amounts to more than styling. The I-Pace has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .29 Cd. That is lower than the Q8 e-tron (.29 to .32) and many sports cars. A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the I-Pace get better fuel mileage.

The I-Pace has 1.8 inches more front headroom and .1 inches more front legroom than the Q8 e-tron.

The I-Pace’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Q8 e-tron’s (1653 vs. 0 pounds).

Heated windshield washer nozzles are optional on the I-Pace to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Q8 e-tron doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

Consumer Reports rated the I-Pace’s headlight performance “Good,” a higher rating than the Q8 e-tron’s headlights, which were rated “Fair.”

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The I-Pace offers available headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The Q8 e-tron doesn’t offer headlight washers.
