The Quattroporte has standard whiplash protection, which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the whiplash protection system moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The CLS doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Quattroporte. But it costs extra on the CLS.

The Quattroporte’s standard lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane and gently nudges the vehicle back towards its lane. A lane departure warning system costs extra on the CLS.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the Quattroporte has standard Rear Cross Path, helping the driver avoid collisions. Mercedes charges extra for Rear Cross-Traffic Alert on the CLS.

Both the Quattroporte and the CLS have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, blind spot warning systems and rearview cameras.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2023 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Maserati vehicles are better in initial quality than Mercedes vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Maserati above average in initial quality. With 19 more problems per 100 vehicles, Mercedes is rated below average.

The Quattroporte’s 3.0 turbo V6 produces 62 more horsepower (424 vs. 362) and 59 lbs.-ft. more torque (428 vs. 369) than the CLS’ 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder hybrid.

The Quattroporte has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The CLS doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

The Quattroporte Trofeo’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The CLS doesn’t offer launch control.

For better traction and acceleration, the Quattroporte has larger rear tires than the CLS (285/30R21 vs. 275/35R19).

The Quattroporte’s 245/35R21 front and 285/30R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the CLS’ standard 40 series front and 35 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Quattroporte has standard 21-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the CLS. The CLS’ largest wheels are only 20-inches.

The Quattroporte has a standard space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the CLS; it requires you to depend on its run-flat tires, which limits mileage and speed before they are repaired. If a run-flat is damaged beyond repair by a road hazard your vehicle will have to be towed.

The Quattroporte has standard front and rear gas-charged shocks for better control over choppy roads. The CLS’ suspension doesn’t offer gas-charged shocks.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Quattroporte’s wheelbase is 9.1 inches longer than on the CLS (124.8 inches vs. 115.7 inches).

The Quattroporte’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (50% to 50%) than the CLS’ (54% to 46%). This gives the Quattroporte more stable handling and braking.

The Quattroporte’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The CLS does not have an oil pressure gauge.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Quattroporte has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The CLS doesn’t offer headlight washers.

A power rear sunshade and rear side window sunshades are standard in the Quattroporte to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The CLS doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

Both the Quattroporte and the CLS have standard heated front seats. The Quattroporte also offers optional heated rear seats to keep those passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated rear seats aren’t available in the CLS.

The Quattroporte has standard front air conditioned seats and offers them optionally in the rear. This keeps the passengers comfortable and takes the sting out of hot seats in summer. The CLS doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats in the rear.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Maserati Quattroporte has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) on the dashboard. Wireless charging costs extra on the CLS.
