For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Maserati Quattroporte are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Rolls-Royce Phantom doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

The Quattroporte has all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The Phantom doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.

The engine is automatically restarted when the driver gets ready to move again. If the conditions warrant or the driver wishes, the system can be manually disabled at any time for the duration of a trip. The Phantom doesn’t offer an automatic engine start/stop system.

The Quattroporte has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The Phantom doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

For more complete vehicle control the Quattroporte has a manually controlled automatic, with the available convenience of an automatic transmission and the complete gear control of a manual transmission without the inconvenience of a clutch. A manually controlled automatic allows the driver to eliminate unwanted shifts and maximize engine braking by down shifting while cornering. The Phantom doesn’t offer a transmission that allows complete gear control.

The Quattroporte Trofeo’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The Phantom doesn’t offer launch control.

For better traction and acceleration, the Quattroporte has larger rear tires than the Phantom (285/30R21 vs. 255/50R21).

The Quattroporte’s 245/35R21 front and 285/30R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Phantom’s standard 50 series tires. The Quattroporte’s tires are lower profile than the Phantom’s optional 45 series front and 40 series rear tires.

The Quattroporte has a standard space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the Phantom; it requires you to depend on its run-flat tires, which limits mileage and speed before they are repaired. If a run-flat is damaged beyond repair by a road hazard your vehicle will have to be towed.

The Quattroporte’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The Phantom doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For better maneuverability, the Quattroporte’s turning circle is 6.5 feet tighter than the Phantom’s (38.7 feet vs. 45.2 feet). The Quattroporte’s turning circle is 6.7 feet tighter than the Phantom EWB’s (38.7 feet vs. 45.4 feet).

The Maserati Quattroporte may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 1400 to 1500 pounds less than the Rolls-Royce Phantom.

The Quattroporte is 1 foot, 8 inches shorter than the Phantom, making the Quattroporte easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The design of the Maserati Quattroporte amounts to more than styling. The Quattroporte has an aerodynamic coefficient of drag of .28 Cd. That is significantly lower than the Phantom (.36) and many sports cars. A more efficient exterior helps keep the interior quieter and helps the Quattroporte get better fuel mileage.

For excellent aerodynamics, the Quattroporte has standard flush composite headlights. The Phantom has recessed headlights that spoil its aerodynamic shape and create extra drag.

The front grille of the Quattroporte uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The Phantom doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The Quattroporte’s standard rear seats fold to accommodate long and bulky cargo. The Phantom doesn’t offer folding rear seats.

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Quattroporte’s trunk can be opened and closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Phantom doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its trunk, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

The Quattroporte has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The Phantom doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

The Quattroporte’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The Phantom does not have an oil pressure gauge.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Quattroporte has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The Phantom doesn’t offer headlight washers.

The Quattroporte offers an optional 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Phantom doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.
