For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Maserati Quattroporte are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Jaguar XF doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

The Maserati Quattroporte has a standard driver’s side knee airbag mounted low on the dashboard. The knee airbag helps prevent the driver from sliding under the seatbelts or the main frontal airbag; this keeps the driver better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. A knee airbag also helps keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The XF doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The Quattroporte has standard whiplash protection, which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the whiplash protection system moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The XF doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Quattroporte. But it costs extra on the XF.

The Quattroporte has a standard Surround View Camera to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The XF only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

Both the Quattroporte and the XF have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras and rear cross-path warning.

Power ranks Maserati above average in initial quality. With 3 more problems per 100 vehicles, Jaguar is rated lower.

The Quattroporte’s 3.0 turbo V6 produces 178 more horsepower (424 vs. 246) and 159 lbs.-ft. more torque (428 vs. 269) than the XF P250’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder. The Quattroporte’s 3.0 turbo V6 produces 128 more horsepower (424 vs. 296) and 133 lbs.-ft. more torque (428 vs. 295) than the XF P300’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder.

The Quattroporte has 1.6 gallons more fuel capacity than the XF (21.1 vs. 19.5 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

The Quattroporte has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The XF doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

The Quattroporte has a standard locking fuel door which locks and unlocks with the power locks. The fuel filler door is not lockable on the XF. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank.

The Quattroporte Trofeo’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The XF doesn’t offer launch control.

For better traction and acceleration, the Quattroporte has larger rear tires than the XF (285/30R21 vs. 245/40R19). The Quattroporte’s rear tires are larger than the largest rear tires available on the XF (285/30R21 vs. 255/35R20).

The Quattroporte’s 245/35R21 front and 285/30R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the XF’s standard 40 series tires. The Quattroporte’s tires are lower profile than the XF’s optional 35 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Quattroporte has standard 21-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the XF. The XF’s largest wheels are only 20-inches.

The Quattroporte’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The XF doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

Because it has more passenger and cargo room, the EPA rates the Quattroporte a Large car, while the XF is rated a Compact.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the Quattroporte to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. Heated windshield washer nozzles cost extra on the XF.

To help drivers avoid possible obstacles, the Quattroporte has standard cornering lights to illuminate around corners when the turn signals are activated. The XF doesn’t offer cornering lights. The Quattroporte also has standard adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle.

A power rear sunshade and rear side window sunshades are standard in the Quattroporte to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The XF doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

The Quattroporte has standard front air conditioned seats and offers them optionally in the rear. This keeps the passengers comfortable and takes the sting out of hot seats in summer. The XF doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

The Quattroporte offers an optional 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The XF doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.
