For enhanced safety, the front and rear seat shoulder belts of the Maserati Quattroporte have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers. The BMW 7 Series doesn’t offer pretensioners for its rear seat belts.

For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Maserati Quattroporte are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The BMW 7 Series doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Quattroporte. But it costs extra on the 7 Series.

Both the Quattroporte and the 7 Series have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras and rear cross-path warning.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2023 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Maserati vehicles are better in initial quality than BMW vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Maserati above average in initial quality. With 10 more problems per 100 vehicles, BMW is rated lower.

The Quattroporte’s 3.0 turbo V6 produces 49 more horsepower (424 vs. 375) and 30 lbs.-ft. more torque (428 vs. 398) than the 740i’s standard 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder hybrid.

The Quattroporte has 1.6 gallons more fuel capacity than the 7 Series (21.1 vs. 19.5 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

The Quattroporte has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The 7 Series doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

The Quattroporte’s 245/35R21 front and 285/30R21 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the 7 Series’ standard 45 series front and 40 series rear tires. The Quattroporte’s tires are lower profile than the 7 Series’ optional 40 series front and 35 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Quattroporte has standard 21-inch wheels. Smaller 20-inch wheels are standard on the 7 Series.

The Quattroporte has a standard space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the 7 Series; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

The Quattroporte’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The 7 Series doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For better maneuverability, the Quattroporte’s turning circle is 1 foot tighter than the 7 Series’ (38.7 feet vs. 39.7 feet). The Quattroporte’s turning circle is 1.7 feet tighter than the 7 Series xDrive’s (38.7 feet vs. 40.4 feet).

The Maserati Quattroporte may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 500 to 1400 pounds less than the BMW 7 Series.

The Quattroporte is 5 inches shorter than the 7 Series, making the Quattroporte easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Quattroporte has a much larger trunk than the 7 Series (18.7 vs. 13.7 cubic feet).

The Quattroporte’s standard rear seats fold to accommodate long and bulky cargo. The 7 Series doesn’t offer folding rear seats, only a ski pass-through.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the Quattroporte to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The 7 Series doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The Quattroporte has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The 7 Series doesn’t offer headlight washers.

The Quattroporte offers an optional 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The 7 Series doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.
