The GranTurismo comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The DB12’s 3-year basic warranty expires 1 year sooner.

There are over 3 times as many Maserati dealers as there are Aston Martin dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the GranTurismo’s warranty.

On the EPA test cycle the GranTurismo gets better mileage than the DB12:

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the GranTurismo’s fuel efficiency. The DB12 doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Maserati GranTurismo higher (5 out of 10) than the Aston Martin DB12 (3). This means the GranTurismo produces up to 16.5 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the DB12 every 15,000 miles.

All wheel drive, available in the GranTurismo, provides the best traction for acceleration in wet, dry, and icy conditions. In corners, all wheel drive allows both outside wheels to provide power, balancing the car. This allows for better handling. The Aston Martin DB12 is not available with all wheel drive.

The GranTurismo’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the DB12’s 35 series front tires.

The front and rear suspension of the GranTurismo uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the DB12, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The GranTurismo has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The GranTurismo’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The front grille of the GranTurismo uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The DB12 doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

Because it has more passenger and cargo room, the EPA rates the GranTurismo a Subcompact car, while the DB12 is rated a Minicompact.

To make loading and unloading groceries and cargo easier, especially for short adults, the GranTurismo offers an optional power trunk, which opens and closes automatically by pressing a button or just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, completely leaving your hands free. The DB12 doesn’t offer a power trunk, so its trunk has to be closed manually.

The GranTurismo offers a remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The DB12 doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

The GranTurismo’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The DB12 does not have an oil pressure gauge.

The GranTurismo offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed, tachometer, navigation instruction and driver assistance information readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The DB12 doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the GranTurismo to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The DB12 doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the GranTurismo has standard extendable sun visors. The DB12 doesn’t offer extendable visors.

The GranTurismo’s standard rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver.
