For enhanced safety, the front and rear seat shoulder belts of the Mercedes AMG GT 4-Door have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision. The Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer pretensioners for its rear seat belts.

The AMG GT 4-Door’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Mercedes AMG GT 4-Door are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The AMG GT 4-Door has a standard Rear Cross Traffic Brake that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.

The AMG GT 4-Door has all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.

Earlier warning of stopped traffic, traffic signals, dangerous road conditions, weather, or accidents, can keep driver's safer and prevent crashes. The AMG GT 4-Door has Car-to-X, a system that seamlessly communicates important warnings to the driver about impending danger, if they're available. The Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer a system that can receive automated systems from other vehicles.

The AMG GT 4-Door has a standard Surround View System to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The Giulia Quadrifoglio only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

Both the AMG GT 4-Door and Giulia Quadrifoglio have rear cross-traffic warning, but the AMG GT 4-Door has Rear Cross Traffic Brake (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The Giulia Quadrifoglio’s Rear Cross-Path Detection doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the AMG GT 4-Door and the Giulia Quadrifoglio have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available lane departure warning systems.

The Mercedes AMG GT 4-Door weighs 722 to 931 pounds more than the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

Warranty

There are almost 3 times as many Mercedes dealers as there are Alfa Romeo dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the AMG GT 4-Door’s warranty.

Reliability

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2022 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Mercedes vehicles are more reliable than Alfa Romeo With 50 fewer problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, J.D. Power ranks Mercedes higher than Alfa Romeo.

Engine

The AMG GT 63’s standard 4.0 turbo V8 produces 72 more horsepower (577 vs. 505) and 147 lbs.-ft. more torque (590 vs. 443) than the Giulia Quadrifoglio’s 2.9 turbo V6. The AMG GT 63 S’ standard 4.0 turbo V8 produces 125 more horsepower (630 vs. 505) and 221 lbs.-ft. more torque (664 vs. 443) than the Giulia Quadrifoglio’s 2.9 turbo V6. The AMG GT 63 S E’s standard 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid produces 326 more horsepower (831 vs. 505) and 639 lbs.-ft. more torque (1082 vs. 443) than the Giulia Quadrifoglio’s 2.9 turbo V6.

As tested in Motor Trend the AMG GT 63 S 4.0 turbo V8 is faster than the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio:

Fuel Economy and Range

On the EPA test cycle the AMG GT 4-Door running its gasoline engine gets better mileage than the Giulia Quadrifoglio:

Regenerative brakes improve the AMG GT 4-Door 43/53’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

The AMG GT 4-Door 63 S E’s standard fuel tank has 3.7 gallons more fuel capacity than the Giulia Quadrifoglio (19 vs. 15.3 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups. The AMG GT 4-Door’s standard fuel tank has 5.8 gallons more fuel capacity than the Giulia Quadrifoglio (21.1 vs. 15.3 gallons).

Transmission

A nine-speed automatic is available on the Mercedes AMG GT 4-Door, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only an eight-speed automatic is available for the Giulia Quadrifoglio.

The AMG GT 4-Door 63/63 S’ launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer launch control.

Brakes and Stopping

For better stopping power the AMG GT 4-Door 63/63 S CCB’s brake rotors are larger than those on the Giulia Quadrifoglio:

The AMG GT 4-Door 63/63 S offers optional heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the AMG GT 4-Door has larger front standard tires than the Giulia Quadrifoglio (F:255/45R19 & R:285/40R19 vs. F:245/35R19 & R:285/30R19). The AMG GT 4-Door’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Giulia Quadrifoglio (F:275/35R21 & R:315/30R21 vs. F:245/35R19 & R:285/30R19).

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the AMG GT 4-Door offers optional 21-inch wheels. The Giulia Quadrifoglio’s largest wheels are only 19-inches.

Suspension and Handling

The AMG GT 4-Door has a standard automatic load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

The AMG GT 4-Door’s drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the AMG GT 4-Door’s wheelbase is 5.2 inches longer than on the Giulia Quadrifoglio (116.2 inches vs. 111 inches).

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the AMG GT 4-Door is 4.6 inches wider in the front and 2.3 inches wider in the rear than the track on the Giulia Quadrifoglio.

The AMG GT 63 S handles at 1.05 G’s, while the Giulia Quadrifoglio pulls only .97 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The AMG GT 63 S executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1.1 seconds quicker than the Giulia Quadrifoglio (23.1 seconds @ .91 average G’s vs. 24.2 seconds @ .84 average G’s).

Chassis

As tested by Car and Driver while at idle, the interior of the AMG GT 63 S is quieter than the Giulia Quadrifoglio (46 vs. 49 dB).

Passenger Space

The AMG GT 4-Door has 2.2 inches more front headroom, 3.5 inches more front hip room, 1.7 inches more front shoulder room, .6 inches more rear headroom, 4.9 inches more rear hip room and 3.6 inches more rear shoulder room than the Giulia Quadrifoglio.

Cargo Capacity

To make loading and unloading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the AMG GT 4-Door’s power liftgate can be opened or closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer a power or hands-free opening trunk.

Ergonomics

Unlike the driver-only memory seat and mirrors in the Giulia Quadrifoglio, the AMG GT 4-Door has standard driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The AMG GT 4-Door offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed, tachometer and navigation instruction readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

If the windows are left open on the AMG GT 4-Door the driver can close them all at the outside door handle or from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the Giulia Quadrifoglio can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

Heated windshield washer fluid is standard on the AMG GT 4-Door to defrost the washer nozzles and quickly clear ice and frost from the windshield without scraping. The Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer heated windshield washer fluid. Its standard heated washer nozzles will defrost the washer fluid but not the windshield.

A manual rear sunshade is optional in the AMG GT 4-Door to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer a rear sunshade.

When the AMG GT 4-Door is put in reverse, the passenger rearview mirror tilts from its original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirror into its original position. The Giulia Quadrifoglio’s mirror doesn’t automatically adjust for backing.

Optional air-conditioned seats in the AMG GT 4-Door keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in Summer. The Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.

The AMG GT 4-Door offers optional massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the Giulia Quadrifoglio.

The AMG GT 4-Door offers an optional 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The AMG GT 4-Door’s Active Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, stopping and changing direction automatically. The Giulia Quadrifoglio doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
